Slow start but that last 25% was banging and had me yelling like a maniac driving in my car. To find out majority of this story was based on real people and real events in jthe authors note was also sick af. Our main character reminded me a lot of Claire from Outlander (without the magical realism aspect) and I found so many parallels in their stories. The authors note about this story being for the women who’ve had to suffer at the hands of men sat with me because we still truly aren’t really in a different place from the 1800s it seems .

It’s wild how many crimes ppl were able to get away with simply because the evidence required for all of them was a single witness. I’m glad physical evidence and DNA is a thing now bc sheeeeesh

People always ask, if you could read a book for the first time again what would it be? But what they don't ask is which book do you wish you never read? As in, it was so bad you could only hope to forget it ever existed.

“Coochie Mane” was a jump-scare but overall this book did make me laugh a lot. Specially one Christmas topper related scene had me cackling out loud in a scary way… I liked the flip of common behaviors in a crush type relationship where instead the dude is the one reading into everything, panicking, and being an overall hopeless romantic. I also think the conflicts in this weren’t bad, so many romances make issues out of nothing or miscommunication but these two did come with actual relationship baggage in which they were the ones at fault. Funny, light, and sweet.

I just opened a book that I got from a used book sale last year and it had a leaflet about some weird medicine in it? So random, why would someone use that as a bookmark? And to then give the book away too?? I'm baffled. One library book I read a few years back had a sticky note message on the back cover and whoever wrote it seemed to have left the rest of the sticky note pad in the book as well. I've also seen my fair share of random bookmarks. A few weeks ago I found one that was covered in Olivia Roderigo stickers lol 😂 I'd love to hear from y'all tho. What's the weirdest thing you've ever found in a book?

Can’t expect me to feel bad for rich uppity people when they made bad medical decisions because of class 🤷🏻♀️

I read the line “Coochie Mane”, stopped dead in my tracks, put the book down, disappointment so heavy that I just sat there for a few seconds until I started hysterically laughing at this ridiculousness.
