I don't know if this will change, but Silas is my OPP at this point of time LMAO 💀 let me start swinging MA'AM— No, but like, the start of chapter 4 took me so out I genuinely laughed cuz SIR?? 🧍♀️ be so fucking fr, it's a love-hate relationship because of course the bad man has captivated me on how bad he could possibly be and to explore his character. Alina, though, she my baddie 🥰 The narrator for her is absolutely soothing and I am loving her character. Already she is so complex. I don't know how she hasn't run for the hills hearing that creepy clicking twice in the NIGHT because I would have been gone 😭

A Spark So Bright (The Kingdom Below Book 3)

Can I say that this book is extremely "her" - JVKE coded? My heart is still reeling at the happily ever after Bjorn finally was blessed with 🥹🩷 Even if it's only the quiet before an inevitable storm, Bjorn & Astrid will certainly make the most of it in this life they built.
I am forever in awe of this world building of Trollveggen and the expansion of the universe!! I absolutely loved the journey to a new land of trolls, and while I hadn't expected the switch of Bjorn having a priestess troll mother, it opened a new pathway to explore different tribes! Ugh, The Kingdom Below series have me in such a chokehold 😩
Astrid has come a long way in finding herself and reestablishing where she stood in life. Like Maia, they both held this initial expectation of who they should be from their kingdom that beat their ideals into them. Even with Astrid bearing such untouched magic, she was made to be docile and to use it for the whims of the men she served. It felt AMAZING to see her come into fruition with it and to grow her voice.
Bjorn...Bjorn, my beloved. No words can ever be enough to describe how I felt reading his journey unfold. I knew his story would hurt, but I was not prepared for the many ways it did hurt me. From the beginning, he was left hopeless in a situation where death was the only mercy to his pain and his berserker. He felt every part of him was a mistake etched into this world, a man who would die a monster all alone 🥺 Astrid truly became his light, his gate to freedom, and then that trial put him to the test. Afterall, how do you live after 10 years of relying only on survival instincts?
His pain was real and it was raw in every awful way. His struggles to pick up life even though the labyrinth followed him and the complex emotions he felt knowing life had continued without him carved at my heart so deeply. Even all the way back as a child, all he craved for was peace and happiness. He hadn't asked for this weight of expectation of the Destroyers before him, and yet, he still carried it endlessly until he found his reason to live. To continue his life. To heal. To love. To be free.
Bjorn & Astrid's love hold dear to my heart. Two unlikely pairs who amplified the best in each other and could see one another for what they were. I would have loved for more yearning, but at this point, I'm just increidbly happy they found each other. I want them forever peaceful on that hilltop in their quaint cabin, with Astrid's new garden and Bjorn's promised pigs. I can only ever wish they have a long life to look forward to and only happiness is in their sights.
There will be some time before Rose & Gunnar's story, but it is always bittersweet to leave each pair's story to an end. Just like with Maia & Ragnar, it hurts me to know Bjorn & Astrid's story has come to a close. Gosh, it was just as lovely as the first book with me loving Bjorn the most. I'm biased, he reminds me strongly of my love 🩷 I can't wait for what The Kingdom Below has in store next.

❝ I want to finally have pigs ❞
RIP MY FUCKING HEART OUT WHY DON'T YOU ;-; The most (aside from romance cuz i goon for love) my heart has felt so strongly for this book has been getting to step into Bjorn's perspective. He is an incredibly tragic character trying to make sense of how his life could go on after such horrendous years.
And I love the ways his internal battle is written and how that merges with his beastly characteristics. This is the pain I asked for and am continously getting my heart shredded. I love the nuances with him 🥺
Spoiler (End of forum) Below
Chapter 31 brought a wonderful scene with Rose and the trauma that still lingers. I felt this was another reflection for Astrid that the both people she cares for are mirroring in their struggle. Both Rose and Bjorn feel broken and reshaped by their trauma. My heart hurts for Rose as a woman and gosh, the writing in her short scene truly made me feel the ache, the anger, and the indescribable grief that came with it. 10/10
Also Gunnar cameo 🧚♀️✨️

With such a HORRIBLE order, my heart melts for the trolls who banded together to ensure no harm would actually be done upon Astrid and that Bjorn wouldn't have to act on it.
But holy cow, that entire scene had me dying 😭 My poor man is just uncomfortable like 🧍♀️ and the rest are all so silly doing their best to not get smite where they stand to help a brother out.

I was wondering if most people read on a kindle or not, as I find it hard to with the bright light? But it’s also cheaper. What do you guys think? 💭

Is it just me, or do you avoid books set in your city?
I was born and raised by Seattle. I don't know why it is, but books set in Washington or Seattle I avoid.
Is there any reason why??? Not really. (Side tangent TV shows or movies set in the state kind of bug me though because it REALLY shows they've never been there EVER Cough Cough Death Note live action (accept Supernatural and X files))
I read Remarkably Bright Creatures recently and it was set in Washington and I enjoyed how the author wrote the city as it's own character. But that was the only book I have read set in my city.
How about you? Or do you enjoy books more if they are setbin your city? Just curiosity plaguing me again.

what the hell was that😭
388 pages and only the last 40 pages was when the plot moved ? yikes.
and it only moved like an inch, nothing really happened, nothing got revealed, and basically the whole book could’ve just been 65-100 pages long if all those sex scenes, repetitive sentences, and unnecessary details were cut out.
& literally this was my reaction the whole time i was reading it :
