i wish more people read app. lit, like they read regular american lit or african american lit - not that either of those are bad! but this is just another reminder that there are some many different stories and so many different types of people that deserve to have a voice… this is a wonderful book and an extremely modern, appalachian take on an age-old dicken’s classic!

maybe i’m just being too judgmental and wasting my breath but on the ebook i’m reading (it could just be a kindle thing idk either) i hate that i can see what other people highlight… and they highlight the most obvious or redundant of things. like for example when Demon is thinking about how people are affected by stereotypes and how they can either run with it or reclaim it (on pg 69), 9,032 people highlighted the quote. like yes that is an important distinction to make but also, how do you now know that?? there are other examples too where it’s just the most obvious, like ā€œlook at me i’m being a such a good, well-read, political citizenā˜ļøšŸ¤“ā€ - ugh anyway, love the book so far! but hate that part of the ebook edition.

only took me three years but now i’m done! it’s fun to explore the world that so many other fantasy series have been built on - on to the next two books, hopefully it won’t take me that long to finish them this time.
