Iām getting kind of sick of this writing style and feel a DNF coming but am trying to see where it goesā¦ā¦I really dislike when FMCās only traits are being distant and allergic to feeling anything besides revenge š Also the amount of times words like brutal, savage, fractious etc are used is driving me up the wall!!! Feels like weāre just using dramatic words just cause and it feels so forced sometimesā¦UGH! Lol

I read this one after Afterglow and I may like that one better for the plot but I loved Mona and her journey!!! Excellent spice per usual from Emily, there was enough that sometimes I quick read those sections to get to the next plot point š

Coming back a month after finishing this trilogy to say from reading the Broken Earth, NK has given me the ability to sniff out mid sci-fi/fantasy because of how incredible this trilogy was š« Just tried reading Shadow of the Gods and while it was interesting I just couldnāt get invested and it lacked the depth we get in this trilogy - so be forewarned if this series really hits for you it may raise your level of standard for reading other series!!! (in the best way possible)

Eh? I thought this one would hit for me but Iām almost halfway and just donāt super duper give a damn about any of the plotlines, save for Orka maybe. I think the revolving POVās in this book works against the story, jumping from Elvar to Varg then three chapters later circling back to Orka got confusing and with as many story/character threads to keep track of I got lost several times!
I love Norse mythology and feel like Gwynne setup an interesting world in Vigriư but I didnāt feel very invested for some reason. The last trilogy I finished was Broken Earth by NK Jemisin and that one blew all my past trilogy reads out of the water so maybe my standards are higher than I expected now š¤£š
