never expected to be so engaged with a story about the lives of a seemingly normal group of friends and individuals (with not much plot), but dinan writes the complexities and imperfections of the characters, life, and society in such a beautiful manner. you’ll empathize with the frustrations, struggles, and moral dilemmas the characters reveal and go through; reading this made me feel like i was part of the friend group lol

“It's a kindness I'm not used to in dating. I went to the internet to ask if I was being love-bombed, but apparently he may just be nice.”

ichikawa did an amazing job at writing a thought-provoking story about body autonomy and power imbalance from the perspective of a person with a disability.

"slow burn enemies-to-lovers romance between two co-stars" feels like an exaggeration for what the story actually is. simon and charlie are cute together, but it seems as if that's all we're sure of. it's a shame we did not see much of them being actual co-stars especially with the multiple seasons of the show they were on. i feel like their slow burn romance would have a bigger impact if readers are actually part of their journey as co-stars from the beginning or middle seasons rather than just constantly mentioning how they were co-stars for seven years, even disliking each other, but only mentioning it in passing. also, because of the lack of show work background, i felt like there was not much character depth for both simon and charlie. it seems absurd to market a story as co-worker romance and have a huge percentage of the story be in hotel rooms when they're done filming what brought them together (and we don't even see a lot of it).
