Give me all your weirdest book recs

Hi everyone! I'm in the mood for something truly strange and thought-provoking, but with a solid plot that you can follow. Vibes-only doesn't work too well for me!

I don't mind whether it's fantasy, sci fi, lit fic, horror... I'll read any of it!

    What would you recommend?

i don’t know if it’s my copy of the epub or what but i’m noticing some typos & grammatical errors & it’s really bothering me even though the book is really good so far 😭 is it the same for anyone else?

firstly can i just say i HATE HATE HATE when authors don’t stick to one tense for the book it’s seriously so annoying

this was an alright book overall. mostly i was just confused. the pacing was off & it jumped around all over, though i sort of get what the intention was. it’s a pretty bleak story & definitely not an easy read.

i appreciate the complex way islam was shown in this book - as a person in a muslim household i rarely see an islamic family represented this way, with all the ugly parts of it and the beauty of it, too. the effects of war on the characters and the conflict it caused for the two siblings was very well-done; in fact the character work is the best thing about it.

i’ve seen some reviews say the book doesn’t bother explaining who all the political leaders mentioned are, but imo that’s not necessary. it’s not a history book, it’s not its job to explain it. even without knowing who everyone is, it’s clear what the book is showing: the effects of war and how trauma can cause rifts in even the closest family members.

i think it’s a solid book, but the few things i mentioned in the beginning held it back from being a really good book.
