i’m excited this premise is interesting! but i didn’t know the “present” time in the novel is like… years from 2026 so that threw me off a bit at first lol the author probably wants to write the “past” part in a late 90s setting, so that’s okay

i want to like this book so bad but i think i’m getting too old to read high school romance. maybe the first person writing got to me, i’d love to see alexa’s pov as well to see how she actually is as a character. some parts are also a bit hard to believe for me, like how charlie mastered a new sport in just a short period of time. i get that it’s fiction but… it’s still too hard to imagine. i lowkey hate the little “conflict” between charlie and her two best friends because it felt a bit weird and out of nowhere and the resolution was too fast. the ending felt a bit whatever for me as well… but then again, as i said in the beginning, maybe i’m just an old grinch (i’m in my 20s)

the high-school-type writing is kinda getting to me… do teenagers in western countries really talk like this or not because in my head, it sounds sooo cringey 😭 i mean yes the romance is sort of cute (though i would prefer it more if there’s more buildups) but their conversations are too much for me sometimes
