I really liked this story. There were parts that were very creepy. The atmosphere was great. I liked the characters (even the ones you're supposed to hate). The villains were pretty obvious though, even when I think the author tried to pull back and make you doubt. It didn't work, lol. I really loved the visuals used, and I'm not usually one for body horror (no spoilers). I liked the mystery of how Mara woke up buried (this happens immediately so no spoilers). I kind of figured it out maybe halfway through the book, though I was very wrong about the true nature of the mystery. And I loved the two sidekick friends Natalie and Declan. I want them to be my friends too! Over all, a very solid book. Not super scary but has a good amount of uncomfortable.

  • Let’s Create a Review Chain 📚👾

Let’s play an easy and quick game - Review Chain!

1️⃣ Post a book in the comments - just the title and author is enough. 2️⃣ Scroll through the books posted and leave a ONE WORD review (keep it spoiler free please) 🤫

Let’s see how many words can be used to describe each book, and how much they’re alike - or different! Feel free to kindly debate one another’s words!

Hope everyone is having a good week! 💛

  • Preferred reading medium

I'm curious, what everyone's preferred medium of reading. And I'll just preface that none of that audiobook-ebook doesn't count as reading nonsense. That's not what I'm asking here. If you prefer reading:

Printed books: Hardbound or paperback? E-books: What device? (Phone, e-reader, Ipad - etc) Audiobooks? Scrolls? gold plates? papyrus? 😂😂 If it's a combo, what combo?

Personally, I'm flexible. But when I started immersive reading (audiobook + ebook/printed combo), that became my preferred medium since it helps with my dyslexia. Now your turn. Rants your what and why 🎤🎤

edit: Paperbacks are popular choice, followed closely by e-books

  • Boo!

I've never really liked horror media. Horror movies, shows, books, anything of the sort, really. But I'm curious about how it's done in books! I'm too much of a wuss to actually read a scary book, so can horror lovers tell me how a scary book scares you? Are there any actual jumpscares or just segments filled with suspense? Also, maybe an example of a book you thought was really bad, because the horror part was done poorly. Or a book you thought was really good cause it scared you a lot. I'd love to hear!

  • Describe a book plot badly

Try to stick to the general synopsis to avoid spoilers please! I'll go first: A young boy with ADHD and dyslexia finds out those are the least of his problems.
