3.75⭐️ fourth wing was so fun i would 100% recommend. i was so ready to hate on it after the atrocious worldbuiling and cringey paragraphs in the first few chapters but it won me over. in no means is it a literary masterpiece, i mean there is no character development for basically anyone except violet and kinda xaden, but most is in the bonus chapters so if you didnt read that then you have nothing and the rest of the characters just exist to move the plot along, like rhiannon who is just violets quirky and brave best friend, nothing else; the fact that violet tells you the world building, like you really couldn’t come up with a better way to build the fourth wing universe; some awful writing as some points which seemed to be written by a kid who was allowed to say swear words for a minute and the areas where some things were so painfully obvious and violet and the other characters were like woop i guess its nothing, like girl bffr; and then the odd pacing, like i feel like so much happened but nothing happened at the same time???? idk the point is this book is very flawed but its also so fun, xaden is so hot, there is dragons like hello sign me up. this was wattpad level writing in the best way possible. this is my second fantasy book in my life so even though i could tell this was not the best book, i has so much fun, it had me giggling, screaming, stressed, even tearing up and was the pallet cleanser i needed after reading so may shitty books trying to clear my physical tbr.

im so excited for the tv show to come out because the book + audiobook combo was phenomenal so to see it acted out will be super fun. they better do it justice. i am going to immediately start reading iron flame to see if it lives up to fourth wing.

one thing that was kinda weird is that violets biggest enemy is some random ass guy she never met decided his life’s mission was to murder her 🤨🤨🤨

also SOME THINGS WERE SO PAINFULLY OBVIOUS OMG AND NONE OF THE CHARACTERS PICKED UP ON IT BUT WHAT MADE IT ANNOYING IS THAT IT HAPPENED IN EVERY SIGNLE CHAPTER OMGGGGGGGGGG.

but this was so fun i loved it. the book has many faults but it’s totally worth the read. and i predicted parts of the ending but im not mad because that is a big part of books i love is playing detective.

this book follows percy who reconnected with her first love when she was invited to his moms funeral, 12 years since they last spoke. though they have chemistry, sam is rattled with the huge mistake she made that last summer together, and till she confronts that, their relationship will always be a what if.

now this shit was stupid as hell. first of all it was stolen like 30% from tsitp and the other 70% from love and other words:

• cottage and boy next door (laow)
• cheating trope (laow)
• the best friend (taylor from tsitp)
• the every summer thing (tsitp)
• flirty older brother (laow)
• the breaking up with gf como si nada (laow)
• AND SO MUCH MORE BUT IM PISSED, like shared themes is ok but stealing plot points is insane.

percy has no character development. she had the same personality at 13 as she did at 30, same did as well, the only one who felt a tad different was charlie but we dont really know anything about him apart from being a considerate perve? i felt like all the characters were kept at arms length from the reader because Percy was a “classic 30 year old?” and she hated herself, same was the adorable mmc, charlie was the arrogant and pervy older brother, sue was the quirky, young but responsible parent, delilah was taylor from tsitp and thats it. none had much substance, like sure the mmc has a dead dad but macy from laow also does and she is so much more than just bland like these characters. i feel like it was a result of us being told stories as opposed to seeing much dialogue between the characters, causing them to never come to life in the story.

percy is immature asf and has no backbone and is a goddamn coward, she was too pussy to confess to sam she cheated on him and didn’t have the decency to apologize to her BEST friend after calling her a slut or the new best friend after treating her like shit the whole book. she is a terrible friend and a semi shitty girlfriend. sam is cute but he was also an asshole because he was 100% toying with her. they shouldve never gotten back together because if they couldn’t have a serious conversation before getting into each other’s pants then they shouldnt date again. i guess i kinda understand why she did it but this bitch fucking knew she wasnt broken up with sam and still fucked his BROTHER LIKE WTF. and sam was 100% being an asshole and he was toying with her, but actively choosing to hurt the person you supposedly love and supposedly think about 24/7 with not only someone else, but WITH THEIR BROTHER WHAT THE FUCK?? like i can understand but i cant justify it. also why didnt she just confess it rather than manipulating him and making him think it was 100% his fault and tell him he sucks basically like girl dont be such a coward i hate you.

sam was adorable but he was a pussy ass bitch. like i understand percy was the least understanding person on planet earth but you were also toying with her. i didnt like either of the mcs. he needed to stop being such an insecure pussy and grow a backbone. LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU APOLOGIZE TO YOUR GF AFTER SHE CHEATED ON YOU WTF WAS THATTTTTT

charlie was weird. he was alwaus flirting with percy despite knowing his brother was in love with her, i guess to pressure him into making a move but it all seemed so weird, especially the truth or dare kiss. and the comments about her boobs and three ways? like wtf is that, foul.

this shit was cheating apologist propaganda. like if the roles were reversed and it was a book about a guy who was being pushed away by his gf because she wanted to experience life and just be a young adult and end up being kinda shitty as a result of it and then the guy spends the whole time his gf is at college flirting with his older sister, than cheating on his gf with ber sister because he wanted to feel wanted, then letting her apologize saying it was her fault she cheated. HUHHHH??????? dont fucking play with me this shit is stupid as hell and the only reason people are glossing over this is cause they are stupid or they support women’s wrongs a little too much. and i see people justifying it but if it was a man people wouldnt bat an eye before bashing this book

the writing was pretty good though because the story felt super easy to get through but i wish there was less storytelling and more dialogue. the ending was rushed as hell. she spent so much time on stupid shit in the past and the present before the plot twist that no one cares about and then tried to wrap up the ending in 2 second making everything worse.

sam is stronger than me because i would never trust percy and charlie in the same room or charlie around any of my partners ever again. he was a bitch pero pobrecito.
