I didn't hear of Octavia Butler until I was an adult (in the last few years really) but feel like she should've been introduced in high school English class! Curious how everyone else was first introduced to her work?

âIâve already shown you examples of metathesis, and there are many moreâŚ(bird used to be brid, and third used to be thrid - which makes total sense: three, thrid)âŚâ
bird being brid is so fun but i feel silly for never even considering that the word âthirdâ might have made more sense historically with a different pronunciationâŚiâve always wondered abt that like it seems so obvious that it should have been something with a thr- instead of th-, skip the râŚpeople used to say thrid. of course they did.
