In recent years, I've been following the Ursula K. LeGuin Prize for Fiction because the books are selected by a panel of authors in the specfic realm and they always seem to choose really interesting books with a focus on marginalized author.

I was excited to come share it here because some PB favorites like The Works of Vermin and The Mad Sisters of Esi are on it!
How many of these books have you read? Are there any you haven't read yet that you're inspired to check out?

DNf 25%. I find it very similar to The Spear Cuts to Water, which is also about the stories that form a country (though is more about patriotism than family). Both I could identify as great books that were not working for me, but the writing is also not working for me in The Everlasting. There are interesting discussions about the sacrifice of public figures in the name of propaganda and the manipulation of truth in history writing. I wouldn't say any of it is subtle though.
