hiii everyone! I just finished this book by Jacqueline Harpman and it kept me hooked which hadn't happened to me for a long time so now I want to read more books like that. I loved Never Let Me Go, The Handmaid's Tale previously so I think its the same genre (idk what this genre is called). So I am looking for books that focus on all or few of these topics/themes: female protagonists (ideally), speculative fiction, dystopian, searching for humanity in inhumane places, makes me question life and existence and the meaning of it all (and not necessarily in a bad way though I dont mind stories of despair either) No series and no YA books.

Looking to read more of her books but which ones and when? I listened to Daisy Jones and the Six a couple of years ago and liked it a lot. I’ve got Carrie Soto, Atmosphere, and Seven Husbands on my tbr. Curious to know if anyone has thoughts on what to go with first? Also book vs audio? Got those Spotify hours to use! I sort of want to know what mood or vibes each gives off. Might help me decide.

I honestly can’t believe I’m going to say this because I absolutely love Abby’s books but this one was not for me. It was named a romcom but I couldn’t really find the comedy in it. It also was to insta love for me and felt like the long distance problem was mentioned every time they met but they didn’t do anything about it so this just kept being brought up for no reason. It felt boring and so not like the Abby books I’m used to

Felt like being chronically online crossed over into a book world.

Parts of this felt like brain rot. The social media mustard jokes, tiktok trends and going viral. I read to live in another world, not read references to the real world. However, I did love the ending.

Not rating or reviewing because my opinion literally does not matter. This is about Chanel’s story- being heard and believed. And that I can do.

I have the ick from continually referencing a completely separate book world (ACOTAR).
