Ever since I finished The Poppy War, I have been very anxious to read the second book. Both excited and nervous. The first book was so good! But it was also very heavy. This book just feels really intimidating. How did everyone else feel when starting this book after reading the First Book?

Finishing the first part of the book – Thoughts from 42% (page 238)

I was gagged 😭. The first 100 pages really fried my brain because the concept was so strange and absurd to me. But then, when Rin met Master Jiang, everything started to make sense and got fun… and then it got confusing again 😭😭😭 Felt like being on a rollercoaster

What does anyone think the moral of the story of the young American whose mother falls ill in Paris? I know based on the morals she’s assigned to past stories the narrator does not seem to be super insightful like her saying the moral of the one story was being poor will kill you or something. Which sounds insightful until you realize it was an argument she was making against thrifting. I was thinking maybe don’t trust people whose language you don’t speak? Or the importance of trusting your own eyes & memory over what others tell you? What do yall think?
