Well, that was a journey. I’ll have to take my time before I start the second book.

Does anyone have an favorite christmas books they recommend? I'm participating in a holiday readathon on Booktube, and I blanking on all of them. I prefer them to at least be gay or sapphic or include some lgbt representation and I want it to be contemporary. I already have Carol by Patricia Highsmith on my list.

I really wanted to like this book as I have been watching thestoryaintover on youtube for years and I have been so excited and happy for the journey she's been going on starting her publishing imprint. However, this book wasn't for me. It felt undercooked. I was more often told what the characters were feeling than I was shown it and thus had trouble really connecting to the characters and their feelings. Everything felt very surface level. Even how it ended. I don't like it's focus on non-violent protests. Stonewall was a riot. You don't get anywhere protesting politely. Zain's story felt a little bit more thought out and executed. The storyline between Zain, Hannah, and their dad felt poorly executed as well. I think this book had the potential to be really great; I just think it needed to cook longer and that it needed better editors.

I don’t know how to rate this lol Umm yeah so it’s definitely the predatory lesbian trope. Calling it a romance feels like an incorrect description of what was going on in this book. It was definitely an interesting read & fairly easy to read as well. Cool to say I have read the book that originated the vampire. I was going to read the other addition that has footnotes by the editor but I don’t know if it’s worth it.
