Did you ever know someone who thought they were good at singing? Maybe good at acting too? Really thought they were meant to be famous? If not, you will after reading this. Jessamyn has wanted to be in musicals on broadway since she can remember and she would do absolutely anything to achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a star. She may only be landing commercials, and is only an usher at her local theater, but that's just because she's been unlucky. People don't understand her talent. They're jealous and they don't want to see her succeed because it hurts their own egos. But don't worry she has her support system including her Tony Award winning voice coach who swears she's meant to be a star and her two boyfriends who know she's meant for the fame. One day, her theater announces they're putting on The Sound of Music, Jessamyn's favorite play. She knows she's prepared her whole life for this exact moment and will do whatever it takes to become the lead role. The author did something new with the obsession and raging woman trope that kept this fresh amidst many books trying to accomplish the same thing. I loved being inside Jessamyn's self-absorbed mind and hearing her hot takes on the people around her, especially with the dramatic theatre atmosphere. You can't help but laugh at her absurdity and endless need for attention and validation. If you love drama and a delusional, unreliable main character I highly recommend the audiobook!

This was so damn fun and hard to put down. The book starts with Satara killing her husband after finding out heās been cheating on her with her best friend. From there you learn this isnāt Sataraās first rodeo⦠sheās been dropping acid and getting revenge on men for years! Talk about bad and wild decisions one after the other⦠it was impossible to look away from. I thought this was the ultimate unhinged woman getting revenge story, but the thing that docked it for me was the ending unfortunately. Iām not a fan of a bunch of twists back to back so that kind of sucked. Either way I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading the rest of Mia Ballardās work.

I just love when a woman becomes aware of her worth. Lenore marries a man whoās in charge of a steelworks company during the Industrial Revolution in hopes of having a normal life after the death of her parents. Little did she know sheād spend her years beckoning to his every request and need, helping him climb the ranks in their town only for him to never appreciate her. In the midst of all this, a mysterious woman comes into their life and opens her eyes to the truth. Her husband is not who he claims to be, not in their marriage or at his business, and she may not be safe. This story is a slow but gorgeous unfolding of Lenoreās discovery of her worth as a woman and what she can be without a toxic man. My only note would be there was not nearly enough yearning and want for a story about sapphic vampires. Iād recommend this with the caveat that the love affair seemed to be a minor plot of the book (maybe thatās just me though).

Coming here after experiencing some woes after starting this book a few days ago.. This style of writing is so hard for me to follow! Tons short sentences and stops, no quotation marks or punctuation to indicate when a character is speaking so itās all meddled together (MCās POV, thoughts, and dialogue) and youāre kind of left to guess whoās speaking and if itās actually MCās thoughts or dialogue. I guess itās just something Iām not used to! I just wanted to enjoy some sapphic reading. But I shall persevere. Anyone else frustrated with this style of writing? š«
