Books that are part memoir part another genre: in a way that blends multiple mediums and/or themes in unique and engaging ways. Magical, explosive and memorable narratives expressed with creativity and depth. Books that inspire me to write more.

Nonfiction about historical events, people, and places outside of North America & Europe (both contemporary and ancient history).

This list can include nonwestern perspectives within/analyzing western cultures or countries as well (as long as it’s in a historical context).

will mostly contain books about historical events and will span from the 20th to the 21st century. It will include many countries, not just the Western ones, so if possible, recommendations would be great!

As someone who voraciously reads fiction, getting interested in non-fic is a bit of a slog. Does that describe you? Fantastic! Here are non-fic books that I found page-turning, compelling, and interesting.
