Fantasy books you can read instead of Harry Potter
JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

Hey! Who put their leftist politics in my fiction?
Need a gift for your extremist family member, but they already have a red baseball cap AND a Don't Tread on Me shirt? Each just for fun book comes with our guarantee: No real world political messages under the 100% fictional plot! ๐ (Taking Recommendations!)

Alternatives to Harry Potter
You liked Harry Potter but youโre angry at the author for being a huge transphobe and you would like some alternatives because you donโt want to give money to her so she can finance transphobia and you have enough of Harry Potterโs racist stereotypes like Cho Chang and other problematic themes in this saga? Youโre in the right place! I havenโt read all, if some are misplaced, let me know! Also, if you want more fantasy recs, I have a queer fantasy list! It is addressed to different ages.

Deep Exhale: Cozy BIPOC
Celebrating cozy books by bipoc authors. With respect to the subjectivity of 'cozy' and how a lot of bipoc stories will touch on difficult themes as part of our realities, I'm including here books that I've read and have been recommended.
These are books for us to exhale and rest with, with lower stakes where the cozy atmosphere is thoughtfully at the forefront rather than as short scenes or as an afterthought. I'll add a suggestions criteria post in the comments for more recs ๐๐ฝ
