Piranesi would you take recommendations or are you wanting to vet these personally yourself?

Things in Nature Merely Grow by Yiyun Li is a memoir that fits the criteria and Wednesday's Child, her short story collection also speaks on loss. I have not read Wednesdays Child but Things in Nature Merely Grow was one of my top books of 2025.

Sorry on reflection I realise that first run-on sentence was a bit confusing - but fabulous! I hope you find it a valuable read ❤️

hooraaaay i love this list ❤️ i have some recs: not sure exactly what ur trying to curate here but recs I think u might get into? I first encountered Anne Lamott in Bird By Bird, which is more about craft, but after I saw(?) her in The Midnight Gospel I discovered the rest of her work is a lot to do w grief. (midnight gospel is a netflix show animated & assembled from Duncan Trussel's Family Hour podcast, so if you like it audiostyle u might check out her ep there. same podcast/animated series features Caitlin Doughty who wrote Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. actually also now i think of it the whole midnight gospel is about death) I also keep Andrea Gibson on the same mood board as Anne Lamott bc i like to mix in poetry but ymmv
