There were a few stories in Spirits Abroad that I wish Zen Cho would expand into novel form. I can't remember which ones...except for the one about the invisible spirit in some sort of meeting. It was the first book that introduced me to Malaysian fantasy and got me hooked!
That one! That one had me in a chokehold and inspired me to write a short story which got published and can be found in an anthology here
Iām glad you got to experience Malaysian fantasy! I think Zen Cho really does a great job there. But I hope you try some others!
do you have any favorites of these? I have a few on my tbr already, but I'd like to hear from the list creator herself on where to start, there are so many cool covers here!
definitely Black Water Sister! itās the first book where iāve truly been able to relate to the main character, plus the strength of the setting.
