This is a great reminder for me to get back to reading Morrison.
it's always a good time to pick up a toni morrison book
iām reading Beloved soon!
i heard it's really good! hope you enjoy
thanks for putting the list together!
Thanks for making this š. After I read Paradise, I knew I was going to read all of her books.
yess i hope you enjoy!
Sorry I'm ignorant. How exactly do I join this quest?
it's not an official quest yet sadly. i made a list in a format of what a quest like this would look like. if you finish all the books in here, you can comment for bragging rights haha
Incredible... I just started Jazz but realised it's #2 in the Beloved series. Should I read them in order?
i haven't read Jazz or Beloved yet but i heard it's a better experience if you read in order
Yes, do so in order. The series follows through different periods of history so Beloved is set just after the end of the American civil war (with flashbacks) and Jazz goes into the 20th century, the 1920s iirc.
I happened to read Beloved first, and Jazz a couple years later. I havenāt read Paradise yet. How I managed to get this order right without knowing it was a sort of historical trilogy is shocking! Haha They definitely can be read as standalone books (canāt speak for Paradise).
Oh thatās good to know!! I stand corrected ā read as you please!
I have read all these except Jazz. I was part of a Toni readathon thing in 2021 šš¤
omg hell yeah!!! here's your fun emoji: š· (to motivate you to read jazz and complete the list hehe)
haha thanks I really might as well!
I haven't read all of her books yet, but of the 9 (I think?) I have read, Jazz and Sula vie for the honour of "favourite".
Sula is one of my faves too! šāāļø
Thanks for making this! I was doing a Toni Morrison challenge on Storygraph before making the switch over here and happy to see a list was already made!
So far Iāve read everything BUT the Beloved series (on the first now). I saved it for last since itās typically the most well known and tbh kind of glad I did since everything else has been phenomenal so I canāt even imagine them getting any better!! š
Truly has become my all time favorite author now, her work is absolutely incredible and her prose is the best work of art!
yay welcome! she's truly an amazing writer deserving all the hype. that's awesome that you've read almost everything by her! here's a fun emoji for you in the theme of Beloved: š¼
