We set out in search of hidden gems in why choose fantasy/paranormal romance novels!!
Rules? We are choosing books with less than 5 forum posts (0 would be perfect) to fill out those empty forums a little š¤
Weāre reading the Season of the Witch series next! (July 20th - August 31st) After that will be The Lost Coven duet

last updated July, 2026
Next in line is the series Season of the Witch by Emberly WyndhamāØ
"A cozy witch romance series for readers who want all the cottagecore witchy vibes with low stakes and low stress. Each book guarantees a short, spicy romance with an HEA and a new love interest added with every novella."
(I think the first two books are around 150 pages and the last two are a bit over 300)
If anyone is interested in reading it together, we start on July 20th š (and the buddy read will last until the end of August)

Hey guys!! Iām really happy you wanted to join!! š In the end I decided it would be cool to create a list (I hope that you agree šš¼šš¼)
I was hoping to add a recommendation from each one of you! I added @TheNotoriousHBG rec - Season of the Witch quartet by Emberly Wyndham @antari.reads recommended author K.A. Knight so I chose The Lost Coven (is that ok? I saw a lot of longer series so I wanted to choose something shorter for now š)
As for the order in which weāll be reading - I hope you donāt mind starting with The Deadwood Series, then I was thinking about reading something @sarawithbooks will recommend? (since you were the first one to respond to my post š«¶š¼) After that we could go with the Season of the Witch and The Lost Coven?
If you have something to add or a better idea for the list name let me know! š¤
Edit: Hereās my post where I came up with the idea for this listš
Sounds good! Iām ok to read whatever and it looks like Traitor Witch is already on my TBR. I made a list of some poly/why choose reads that were on my radar already with no forum posts. Please feel free to add whatever you want. I havenāt read these but vetted them enough to be interested in them.
Velvet Cruelty by Eve Dangerfield
Three Ring Heat by RK Pierce
Red is for Roxy by Meg Stratton-post apocalyptic
Broken Princess by Laura Bennett-mafia duet
Catch me by Reese Rivers-time travel
Beneath Dark skies by SA Ashburne-zombies
The Omega Merger by Roxy Collins-omegaverse switch
Flawed Creatures by Beatrix Hollow
Secrets on the Sea by Shona Knight
Drown the Sea by Elisha Kemp-time travel
To Run with the Wild Hunt by Mallory Dunlin-fae
Voices in the Dark by Ariel Dawn
See no Evil by Jewel Killian
Dangers Unclaimed by Amber Bayley
Cute but Psycho by Beatrix Hollow -monster asylum
Whisper Waves by Blake Black-ghosts
Into the Darkness by Nora Ash
Ooo this is a good list! š
I vote for Velvet Cruelty, Three Ring Heat and Beneath Dark Skies but I donāt want to decide on my own š Something like Voices in the Dark could be great too as a shorter read š
Iāve read The Omega Merger already and gave it 4āļø so I can recommend š¤
Those sound very interesting I agree. Omega Merger keeps coming up for me and I definitely need to read it soon

The āswitchā concept is fun and fresh š Iāve read one other book in this series (book 4) and I remember liking it too but unfortunately got bored around 75% and dnfāed it š
I knew you wouldn't disappoint!!𤩠I'll check them all thank youš§”
This is great, thank you! I have no suitable recs at the moment so I'll probably steal something from @Babygotbooks listš¤

Sure! š

Hey! Did you choose something? šš¤ I was thinking about making a post what weāre going to read next some time soon to let people know in advance šš
Ooooh yes! Sorry, these days are flying by too fast. I'll look up something, give me a couple hoursš

Sure, no worries! š I totally understand, I feel like the beginning of April was just few days ago ššš¤£
Right?!? I always feel like january and february are endless and then march/april come by and everything becomes an unstoppable whirlwind of things and then it's suddenly July and I'm left wondering wtf happened???

Sooo maybe we can go with Beneath Dark Skies? I've never read books with zombies in it so it might be interesting!!

Same here! Iām already exited for something new and different! š¤

Canāt wait to start reading Traitor Witch! š¤

Are you ready too? š
Here we go!
Yessss!šš
Immediately saving. I just bought The Fifth Nicnevin series, but Iāve been meaning to try Marie Mistry so maybe Iāll swap to the Deadwood series!

Marie Mistry is easily becoming one of my favorite authors and thatās why I recommend we read the Deadwood series first! Iām rereading Liminal right now and Iām as obsessed as I was reading it for the first time (canāt wait to get to the second book š¤) I was reading The Fifth Nicnevin series last year and I feel in love with it too! šš Unfortunately life happened and I didnāt finish it yet (got to 70% of the 4th book) but I hope Iāll be able to reread and finish it soon š¤
Iām so excited. Iām in. Iām going to see where I can checkout/buy the Deadwood series so I can read along. I missed your original post but Iām an RH lover so Iāll follow along!

This has been so much fun! I get kind of nervous to post in the forums normally but feeling like weāre starting the convo feels good! Iām almost done with Pirate Witch and Iām getting kind of sad, lol! Iāve read faster than normal though since my kid has been home sick this week so thereās been lots of couch time. It will normally take me a little longer to read a trilogy š.

Iām somewhere at the beginning of book three but I still need to take some time to organize my thoughts and notes from book two š Itās much more fun when you know someone for sure will see your thoughts and thereās a high chance theyāll reply š You can let me know when youāll want to start The Fifth Nicnevin series and maybe if Iāll be able to at the time Iāll join š (I recommended this series to few people on pb and when they were posting on the forum I was super happy but also frustrated since I wasnāt always able to respond bc I forgot a lot šš)
P.S. I hope your kid feels better š
I didnāt realize you couldnāt post in the forum at percentages after marking the book as finished š©. I went through Pirate Witch so fast and was taking notes in my notes app. I posted my final note though š . Forum newbie I guess!
Iāll definitely do The Fifth Nicnevin. I bought it on audio and that helps slow me down a little!

I was there too!! š
Oh, really? I normally tend to get through audiobooks faster bc I listen to them on at least 1.5 speed š
It was so fast paced with tons of important scenes to get to. I couldnāt pause.
I listen at 1.5 speed but I can read text super fast š . With audio books I find myself reading 200-300 āpagesā a day. With ebooks more like 400-500. Iāve been tracking pages on Storygraph to help me figure this out. Some days I go into a reading hole and do like 600-1000 but thatās just disassociation š and only happens once or twice a month. Or when reading angsty cliffhangery Omegaverse or Cowboy Colony Mail Order Brides š«£.

Wow! 𤩠Iām a pretty slow reader š . Itās probably because of my ADHD (I need to frequently reread sentences for example š®āšØ). Maybe I would read faster in my native language š«£š I guess I can try tracking on Storygraph too š
Ummm excuse me you are a reading superhero in my view! You just read that trilogy so fast and it wasnāt even in your native language???? ā ļø. The only other language I can read in is Spanish and Iām way way slower in it!
I do like Storygraph for the info it provides! It was helpful for me to see it that way and give myself some more realistic goals.

Thank you! š„¹š«¶š¼
Thatās a really good idea, it could help me a lot too with setting my goals š. My only issue is that entering data there every time I read something seems like a lot of additional work š š
Everytime i see you, I feel so bad that I wasn't able to participate in the previous readalong after saying that I would and this second readalong is also overlapping with my exams. š

You donāt need to feel bad, I understand! š„¹š«¶š¼ Good luck with your exams and I hope next time youāll be able to join! šš¤
Thank you. Hopefully I'll get to join the third readalong. š

Hello everyone! It's time to start our readalong of Rolling Hills Ranch duet by S.A. Ashburne š¤
The first part of this story set in a zombie apocalypse is Beneath Dark Skies š§āāļø
The readalong will last for over a month (May 22 - Jun 30, 2026) Thereās no pressure to start right away, you can join whenever best suits you š«¶š¼

Oop, it seems i've stumbled upon something interesting hehehe. I have a rec, but there are 15 posts in the forum, but they are from 2 people (me and my buddy reader) would you like it still or does it not fit ?

Thank you so much but the idea was to choose books with empty forum posts and read some of them together so it wouldnāt feel so lonely writing there alone with no one to discuss (since those books arenāt so popular). Just like you and your buddy reader did! š¤š
I intend to add to the list only books we decided on reading together š¤ (at least for now Iām gonna stick to it since this was the original idea)
You are welcome to join us if youād like to buddy read with more people š Hereās my old post where I first came up with the idea if youād be interested š
Oh okay that makes sense ^^ I would love to join as I love the trope, but I feel I already have too much planned right now š but I'm definitely saving this for the recs, and if I find the time I'll try to hop in on 1 or 2 of the buddy reads !

Yay! šš¼ I was thinking about starting the next buddy read sometime after May 20th š I have a lot of reads planned too but I tend to not stick to my plans š¤£š
Hi here are my recs, rated 5āļø by me. I think they fit here. Baneful Magick by Suki Rose Curse and Keys by Stella Brie Lightbringer by Evelyn Flood

Omg! They seem to be really interesting, thank you! š
The idea for this list was to read those books together as buddy read and I wanted to put on the list only the books that weāll decide on reading š If youād like to join us and would like to read them again together with us then sure, Iāll add it but maybe youād prefer something different then as your pick? š
(I put your recs on my shelf since they seem cool and maybe someone here will also be interested š)
Oh my bad. Iām happy to buddy read. Always ready for more recsš My preference is fantasy RH but willing branch into contemporary. Canāt wait for the listš
Hi everyone! Iām excited to announce that we will be reading the Rolling Hills Ranch duet by S.A. Ashburne next! (Part one is Beneath Dark Skies) Itās @sarawithbooksā pick from @Babygotbooksā list š
The story is set in a zombie apocalypse! š§āāļøš§š§āāļø
Our mini readalong will run from May 22nd - June 30th (2026) I think it was a slight mistake on my part last time to only add starting date š With a time window there will be no pressure to start right away and people can hop in whenever they want (and read at their own pace)š
On May 22nd I will try to post a little reminder š¤š
Before then you can check out (if you havenāt already) the previous series we have read - The Deadwood by Marie Mistry. I think we can count it as a hidden gem š
Next on the list are series Season of the Witch and The Lost Coven. After that I think it would be best to vote for what are we going to read š (but itās still far in the future š)
Canāt wait to see you all in the forums! š
