half-glimpsed images: the novel in fragments

the fragmentary novel is constructed of fragments or vignettes, typically following images, thoughts, and feelings over a sequential series of events. in a world of disruption, displacement, and of time being swallowed and spat out by the machines of capitalism and colonialism, the fragmentary novel offers an alternative structure.

Yesss I love this style of writing and the list you made, thank you! A few recs would be Lithium by MalĂ©n Denis, Faces in the Crowd by Valeria Luiselli, Auga Viva by Clarice Lispector (though this one is FULL stream of consciousness with no definable plot lmao), and Indelicacy by Amina Cain (I haven’t personally read this one so you may want to research a bit, but it was described to me as written in a fragmented structure)

thank you for the recs! i’ll definitely look into all of them
