Aug 16th Update: I have removed works by Leah Albrecht as a result of the following statement https://pastewala.com/exposing-leah-lakshmi
Thank you for sharing! There's two books co-edited by them on my transformative justice list; I wonder if I should remove those as well? The reason I'd like feedback on this is because my list isn't necessarily a guide / supposed to be 'model' examples to practicing TJ, but an introduction to it and a collection of books written that provide alternative, anti-carceral solutions to harm for people to reflect on, adapt to their own circumstances, and expand from. I still don't want to direct people towards authors that have done things like this, especially if they're vehemently perpetuating the same things the book subject is supposed to be in opposition to; however, what about their co-authors/editors who may not condone this behavior? Maybe I should just put a disclaimer instead?
Ooo that's tough and shows you've really thought it through. I think a disclaimer is a good approach. I'm sure more information will emerge with time as well. I'm curious to see the literature and discourse that comes from this situation.
In solidarity ✊
