SPORROR

6

Genius

4

I KNOW I was overjoyed when I found out SPORROR IS A SUBGENRE

3

Omg such a good list Fungi is so creepy to me Gives me nightmares Can’t wait to read some of the horror

4

Do you mean the fungi anthology or fungi as a whole in horror?👀 I haven’t read the anthology yet but fungi in horror is super creepy and fun to read

2

I think I’m going to have to share this list with my husband. He loves mushrooms and he loves horror. This list is the perfect combination. Me, I prefer my mushrooms in sauce. Or fried in butter. 😆

4

LOL, I love both so I'm here for it all 😂 To be fair, if you do enjoy mushrooms and want to read it in other genres, there are a few options above too! Let me know if you want any suggestions (From the ones I've not read) or recs (from the ones I've read)

2

Disgusting, I'm in

3

LOL I love that

2

I just got a book in the mail from Algonquin: Pedro the Vast, by Simon Lopez Trujillo.

“Simón López Trujillo’s “mind-blowing” (Gabriela Cabezón Cámara) debut takes readers into a dry and degraded, fire-prone landscape where humanity has encroached a step too far into the natural world, and a deadly fungus mounts its own resistance . . .”

The rest of the blurb definitely screams sporror. It’s a Spanish to English translation. Comes out in mid-January.

3

Omg what a find! I can't wait to read this, have added it and it seems amazing. Can't wait to see what you think too

1

I read the blurb and immediately thought of your list. I was like, “Ope! I know who needs to hear about this book.”

2

LOL I love that, thank you for thinking of me and this list

1

I don't know how fungi it is, since I haven't read it yet, but I think Little Mushroom may be a good book for this list. It's romance, though, there's 0 horror (that I know).

3

If we’re talking about the danmei novel, it’s very fungi (literally) and it has a fair share of body horror and gory elements!

4

Really? I didn't know that 🤔 I guess I'll find out how gory it is next month 🤭

Oo thanks guys! Adding it now, all genres are accepted here so it's perfect and one of the editions of Little Mushroom was here already as it was suggested before on a different platform

3

You actually had the manhua in your list, and it’s gorgeous, but it spans only for like the third of the whole story! And the full novel is available in two volumes!

2

Ahh omg I didn’t notice that! Thank you for pointing it out 🥹🤎

2

Got three for you! Wife-Shaped Bodies by Laura Cranehill (unless I missed it and it’s on here). Shiny Happy People by Clay McLeod Chapman. The Bone Orchard by Sara A. Mueller. We Spread by Iain Reid. The Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman.

2

I thought I added Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman already but didnt seem to have done so for some reason! Wife Shaped Bodies is here too I've checked out the rest, and added them too but I couldnt find anything about The Bone Orchard by Sara A Mueller having Fungi/Spore in it, would you be able to confirm if you've read it already? Thank you for suggesting new books for the list, always appreciate it

2

yes yes yes this is amazing

2

AHH thank you 🥹🤎

1

2

Here's a list of cozy that are perfect fits: A Witch and her Minotaur by Emberly Wyndham (book 2 in a series) The Hyacinth Labyrinth by Jamie Pacton (2026 release) A Witch's Forbidden Bloom by Amanda Casey (Cottagecore Romcom, this is part of an interconnected series so can be read separately) The Driftcap Inn by Kate Valent (Cozy Fantasy)

Now these are mentions of those that are more cozy adjacent, though I have read one and I do think it is cozy HOWEVER I wouldn't say it's strict cozy (if that makes sense?): Human Scars on Planet Skin by Effie Joe Stock and Nathaniel Luscombe (this is a cozy sci-fi horror, I have read it and I do think it is cozy to me but please look at the TW) The Dawnhounds by Sascha Stronach Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson

2

Thanks! :) I might just be tempted to read Witch and Minotaur for the PB Bingo...

2

Oo which Bingo? That sounds so fun, I'mn hoping to read it soon

1

OMG I love this list so much!
