I'm thinking My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh (studies frogs), When a Scot ties the Knot by Tessa Dare (studied lobster mating patterns) if I remember correctly!

3

Amazing! I will add these!

2

Can confirm on the Tessa Dare! the fmc was into nature drawings and she would observe the lobsters 🦞 (-:

I was thinking about the bluestocking. I might have a couple more titles to share with you. Love that you are creating these HR-focused lists! 😘

2

Yay! Recs always! I was considering making another list for the more traditional bluestocking "reader" types, but please feel free to do so!

3

I had another question but you’ve actually answered it. I think there’s probably enough working writer types to have a separate list. I’m guessing that those in the social sciences would be okay for this list then?

2

omg yeah, so many writers in HR lol I think social sciences would work for sure!

3

I’m not sure about the first one, an archeologist/historian who in the novel is writing a nonfiction book.

  • The Gentleman’s Gambit by Evie Dunmore
  • *the other two volumes of the The Secret Scientists of London series (maybe?)
  • The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite
  • Duke with Benefits by Manda Collin’s
  • Redeeming the Reclusive Earl by Virginia Heath

2

Thank you so much! I am adding these!

3

Celestial Mechanics is such a good rec for this!

2

Great list! I think I’ve got some to add where women have hobbies and jobs, but not so much STEM. I’ll describe and let you be the judge whether they’re best for this list or another (-:

Olivia Waite

  • Feminine Pursuits #2: one mc runs a printing shop and the other is a beekeeper
  • Feminine Pursuits #3: one mc is a talented pianist, the other is a bluestocking weaver

Adriana Herrera

  • A Caribbean Heiress in Paris: fmc is a savvy business owner/distiller
  • An Island Princess Starts a Scandal: one mc is a painter trying to make it into more of a career, the other is a businesswoman

KJ Charles

  • Gilded Cage: fmc is a private detective

Tessa Dare

  • The Wallflower Wager: fmc loves animals and takes care of loads of them

Cat Sebastian

  • A Little Light Mischief: one mc is a maid (to the other mc)
  • A Duke in Disguise: fmc is a bookseller

Minerva Spencer

  • The Dueling Duchess: fmc is a sharpshooter/show performer

I’ve read them all except the last two so the info should be accurate!
