Not a judgement, but an observation—Delilah has had a drink in her hand in almost every single scene in this book. Is the dependence on alcohol something that's going to be addressed or is it something that's going to go unmentioned? 🤔

I don't know if I'm the only one having this reading experience, but this is a book I can very well imagine being a screenplay and translate so well on screen?
The diversity of characters' embodiments, the notable colour palettes associated with each character and setting, the set and costume designs would be juicy and detailed... I've had lots of fun imagining what the perfect soundtrack to lift it all up would be!!!
I'd definitely love to see a period piece set in Montreal anyways 🥹

At one point, I thought this book would become one of my new favorite horror novels, but by the end, it ultimately missed the mark for me.
Writing: Very solid. Especially effective for the horror scenes, which were visceral and haunting. Having an MC with OCD added such a creative twist to so many scenes. Pacing: I know that many other reviewers had issues with this, but I was engaged throughout. Some scenes were repetitive and many chapters were very internal, but that wasn't really a problem for me. Apparently I like being stuck in the head of characters with Issues lmao. Characters: I have mixed feelings about this. I was very compelled by this picture of the MC's psyche that we were getting, but that interest was on the assumption that it would go somewhere, and it didn't. I don't think that a MC needs to grow/transform to be effective, but in this case, I was just left unsatisfied with her arc and retroactively frustrated with all the time spent in her head. The side characters were much more engaging, but we didn't get much of them, and I had trouble believing their loyalty to the very withdrawn/distant MC. Plot: There were two main plots going on: the serial killer, and the hungry ghosts. I found the hungry ghosts plot to be far more compelling for most of the story, though the serial killer plot did have its moments. Some elements of the plot felt completely unbelievable or forced, which pulled me out of the story at crucial moments and soured my overall experience.
I did enjoy this overall, but I'm frustrated just thinking about how some minor tweaks would have significantly enhanced my enjoyment. I'll definitely be checking out this author's next horror novel, as I'm sure that it will be even better than this one.

Another great installment diving even deeper into the mysterious past of Shiori and Hinako! It’s amazing, but I especially praise the continues interaction between Miko and Shiori and how much they contrast each other. The art is always so stunning and the funny moments are great among the serious moments. I’ll have to wait to ever read the sequel and I will be ready to see what the anime has in store for me 🤷 it was a wonderful ride 🥹

so one of my absolute favourite lore is the great tomato war, where one user posted in a forum that they read a book where one character ate a tomato like an apple, and they felt disgusted by that. it set off a massive “war” and it was hilarious to read. jennifer from pagebound even did a list based on that.
one lore i have just discovered today is there is an “user” called deleted. i was so confused. i saw that they got a level up badge today. i swore i saw one like 5 days ago. how the hell are they leveling up when i don’t see any activities or any books in their library? is it a user called deleted? or it was deleted but a glitch meant it kept gathering points? turns out that that is where all the points from deleted posts/comments goes to, into this one user called “deleted”. (unless i am mistaken???)
is there anything i missed? i only know those two!
eta: oh my god i was working and came back to so many comments! i will go through them and reply but oh my god so many entertaining lores! thank you ☺️
