  • Do you read prologue or you skip it? Guilty or no guilty 🤫

I have to admit that i always skip prologue and jump to read chapter 1 👀 edited: Why do I skip prologues and jump straight to chapter one?

I mostly read 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, and after reading a few prologues, I noticed they often 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹 things — like the 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮, 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲 — all of which 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 anyway. (This happens not just in dark romance, but in romance in general.) For 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀, I tend to skip prologues because they usually 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.

So for me, whatever’s in the prologue usually gets mentioned again in the chapters, which makes it feel unnecessary to read!

I'm so sad for Annie, she just keeps giving all of herself and I can't help but wonder what will be left of her in the end

  • Rereading childhood books/ books you read a few years ago

I saw a post the other day about the books that got people into reading, and it got me thinking:

Do y’all ever reread the books you loved when you were younger just to feel that nostalgia again? Or do you prefer to leave those first impressions untouched?

In my case, for example, I got into reading through an ongoing series (shoutout to Five Kingdoms by Brandon Mull), and I used to read each book as it was released and translated into my native language.

Long story short, the final book was never translated into spanish, and by the time I started reading in english, a few years had passed. Now, even though I still consider it one of my favorite series ever, I don’t think I’ll ever finish it. I’m honestly scared that reading the last installment might ruin the magic. Like, what if it ends up tainting the whole experience because it doesn’t live up to what I remember?

  • Music while reading?

Does anyone listen to music while they read? Are you a no-words music person or a words-music person while you read?

If the book I'm reading is popular enough, I'll look up a playlist someone else has already made for the book, and I'll listen to that while I read! I love music with words, and I get fidgety if there's not enough going on while I read. However, I'm starting to read more nonfiction books, and I've had trouble finding songs that go well with what I'm reading? Especially if the topic of the book is dark or serious. My idea right now is that I should listen to music in languages that I don't understand so I can still have music with words, but it won't distract me.

  • Feeling nostalgic!!

Does anyone remember the book/book series that got them into reading? I can't remember the very first book I read but I distinctly remember reading The Castle in The Attic and The Borrowers which completely changed the way I viewed my day-to-day. I always found myself trying to catch tiny people walking around tree trunks or the rooms in my house. They definitely fed my love and hope for fairies as a child.

I'm convinced that if you were to search "Whimsical" in a dictionary, this book would be it's definition

I can not believe I fell face first for Bel's unreliable narration while being fully conscious of it.
