Hi, everyone! I’m looking for recommendations on books that are really good! My preferred genre is fantasy/romatasy but I’m open to others if the book is a really good read. I try to read low-spice books, but I’ll also read books with spice that can be skipped without missing anything (like ACOTAR, 4th Wing, and the later TOG books).

Honestly, I’m getting to a point where the book kind of bores me solely due to the writing style. I understand Emily is a professor and that this is her writing directly to us, but her formality is somewhat draining. Especially during the school year.

While im enjoying listening to the audiobook, I can’t say this book is as good as The Cruel Prince. I feel like Holly Black made this book more fluff than anything. Over halfway through and I feel like this is just setting up for the second book, where the story will actually start. Again, it’s not a terrible book, just not as good as her Folk of The Air series.

Sometimes I feel as if this book is too good for me because Emily speaks as if I, too, am a professor at Cambridge.

I’m so, so excited! I’ve never been able to get into an audiobook before, but I’m really liking this one! It always confused me how people could listen to their books and understand what is happening. I always got lost when trying to listen. Maybe it’s because I’m simply doing drywall spackling so it doesn’t take too much thinking to do, but I’m loving this!
