Lucinda Berry’s description of a mother’s love has been spot on. Like how the mother loves both her children and how your heart grows to allow more love the more children you have is so true. As a mother the “pain”of loving your children is so palpable. You worry, you plan and yet you don’t know what you would do in the situation of this mother.
I do think though that this mother is too apologetic for the horrible thing her son did, like the father seems to be more concerned and cognizant of the son’s behaviour and is responding in action much better.
Also the Him chapters so far seem at odds with the description so far of the rehab centre and the doctors there… weird? Maybe it’s a case of unreliable narrator.

“Tread carefully, little rabbit.” His warm breath brushes my skin. “That is not a game you wish to play with me.”
Well I do! I wish to play that game with you!!!
