    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:
For a book I expected to be light holiday fluff, I  fell in love. I fell in love with everyone.  Bastone knows how to write a likeable/lovable character right from the bat. Lenny, Miles, Ainsley, Jericho, Lou … I loved them all.
It felt so refreshing to read about love and grief and finding friendships and good people in such a modern day story. I connected so much with Lenny and alot of what she has went through , and I want to be part of her new friend group so badly.

I think this would make a wonderful film if it ever got picked up and I can’t wait to read another of the books by this author in hopes I love them just as much. Her writing style is everything I want from a book.

Can someone tell me, is this book just not for me? It’s… fine. But nothing has really pulled me in yet and I’m not having the desire to keep reading. Does it get better or is it time for me to DNF?

If you loved The Brave Little Toaster as a child, I think you will like this. Set in a futuristic earth were our homes are run entirely by automated machines on “the grid” we see the life of an empathetic little vacuum as she watches one of her homeowners pass away, then watches Harold grieve and then ultimately an attempt is made to remove the man from his home. But can this little vacuum and his estranged daughter do something to stop it?

As much as this book was dystopian and slightly horrific in theme, it was incredibly cute and cosy and I found myself reading it SO fast. It was such an interesting premise that unraveled its layers piece by piece until you’re left with a world that ain’t cosy and cute at all. These days I crave “wholesomeness” and this book left me feeling a whole lot of that.
