Weird things that scare you in books?

I love a good horror book. Often times they make me feel disturbed, enraged and are occasionally hilarious, but not scary. However there have been a couple times where I was terrified.

MC had a creepy day in town and was woken up by three loud knocks on his door in the middle of the night.
MC wakes up in the morning, and an unknown man has his arm around her in bed.

What weird things things in books have really freaked you out that others didn't seemed too bothered by?

How to escape a reading slump

Basically the title. How do y'all get out of a bad slump? I haven't been able to read in basically a month and every attempt to get out of it has just made it worse (trying to read in new locations, no distractions, a carefully curated playlist, a carefully curated watchlist)

Who else has finally been able to read outside recently?

I live in the UK and it's been freezing for months and months, I read outside for the first time this year yesterday! Not for long as it was still a bit chilly and I had stuff to do, only 2-3 chapters. I love reading outside but the only thing is I live right next (Literally a few feet away) to a primary school and it feels like they're always outside😭 I'm excited to start reading some of the books I've been saving for sunnier days!
