A wholesome fade to black romance with dragons. Saphira is living her dream, running her own cafe for customer who own baby dragons. Everyday is full of hijinks and scorch marks, accidental as they may be Saphira’s coffee machine takes a blast and is out of action until the funds can be scrambled together. Enter Aiden and his misbehaving little fire breather. Saphira agrees to train Sparky for some extra funds to cover the accidental damages her cafe is always suffering. Saphira and Sparky are fast friends but Aiden is an introverted grump refusing to stay for the training. But sunshine Saphira won’t let it stay that way. As Sparky tackles the training, Aiden and Saphira’s relationship grows closer and a certain little guy is jealous of the attention. I really enjoyed this book, the story flowed so well and I was always rooting for Aiden and Saphira to get together. The awkward stumble into a confession, the found family aspect for the three of them and a look into grief and its affect on behaviour in two different ways. Reclusive introvert to outgoing touch starved. The world building was also really interesting, with how different fantasy creatures have their own preferred environments around this area. Innovations and business made from fantasy creatures, dragon roasted coffee and some drakkon families being in illegal dragon racing. Some of the background character could have been more fleshed out but there was enough there for the ones we are really interested in.

I just love this little guy 😍 Jeff is always up to something whether that’s freeing the pet shop animals or eating everyone’s food on the way to the fair ground. Where Jeff goes there is always chaos and cuteness. Kate and Gwen have their work cut out for them looking after this adorable little guy. The illustration for this collection of comics is cute with limited shading and a lot of colour, every page is vibrant. With limited text as Jeff doesn’t talk you get to appreciate the artwork more and enjoy visual storytelling with some speech bubbles for Jeff (sometime just being a picture of a lightbulb and the like). The amount of costume changes this shark has! They’re all so cute as well, especially the Halloween costumes 🥹 it’s too bad that with his sharp teeth he makes the cute costumes potentially scary (As a marvel rivals player I am waiting for the day more of these costumes are added to the game).

Join Misty Divine as she solves the murder of her drag mother. With poison chocolates and a thief on the loose in London the stakes are high. They get even higher when Misty finds herself at the top of the police’s suspect list. Guess she’ll have to investigate in their stead. I don’t usually read mystery books and maybe I was self sabotaging by putting off reading this one. I tried a new genre and it doesn’t work for me but don’t let that put you off. It’s a fluid story with enjoyable characters. Plenty of twists and gotcha moments that have you rethinking theories. The epilogue leaving space for another book. Oh and of course a diverse representation of queer characters as if that would be questioned.

Is this dragging for anyone else…? I just don’t feel invested this time.

This book has sat on my shelf who knows how long and I finally gave it a a chance. It was amazing. I loved the world building and the magic system (a deck of cards that any can use to have magic, or an infection that gives you powers). It played heavy on the all magic has a cost theme and our main character Elspeth took a while to figure out the cost of hers. The romance is slow burn for the most part but once they’re courting it’s steady. Spoiler ⚠️ The monster being the Shepard King although predictable is a great premise. Allowing him a chance of not only revenge against usurping of his kingdom but also a chance to help the people still in his kingdom. The ending what happens with Elspeth deteriorating, the promise she made him make 🥲
