Hello Boundlings, a quick question! What are some of your favorite book titles? Doesn't have to be your favorite books, just titles that you find especially compelling / beautiful / attractive / intriguing!
Some of mine: The Ten Thousand Doors of January The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo Sorcery and Small Magics The Boy Who Steals Houses Life as We Knew It
As you can see, I tend to enjoy longer titles, LOL

my gf’s bday is coming up next month and i’ve been on the hunt for a good book to get her! we both very much love queer and sapphic fiction, but our interests in genres tend to branch in opposite directions (i love angst/horror and she prefers lighter reads) so i’ve been trying to find a book that she would enjoy! so far ive been looking at either detransition baby by torrey peters (which i read and loved!) or experienced by kate young (which i haven’t read but seems up her alley!)
that being said, i would love any recs yall have for lighter fun/whimsical sapphic fiction!! bonus points if theres butches thrown into the mix as well :)

I don’t know. There were definitely things that were heartfelt in this that hit, but overall this just didn’t fully work for me. The main reason being the writing. I already noticed this when I was about halfway and I hoped that it would become better, but it sadly didn’t. Charlie is supposed to be 15/16 tears old, but the book reads as if he is way younger (like 12 years old). I’ve read that a quite common idea/headcanon is that Charlie might be autistic and sure, there were some scenes and lines throughout the book that would suggest that, but I still think it read way too juvenile. I just cannot imagine a 15-16 year old talking and describing things the way the author wrote Charlie.
Overall, definitely heartfelt moments and important messaging, but it fell flat because of the writing style for me 🤷🏻♀️

So far I am quite enjoying this :) The story is cute and it has a good mix of teenage angst, actual heart, and some life lessons
The only thing that really isn’t working for me is the writing. Charlie is said to be 15-16 but this book reads like it was written from the perspective of a 12 year old. The constant stream of thoughts and matter of fact writing (‘then I did this and then I did that and then this happened’) is really making the book feel too juvenile to me and makes some of the scenes (especially the some scenes with Sam) feel more uncomfortable. Maybe it picks up later in the book, but I don’t really think it will. Let’s just hope the positive outweigh the negative when I finish this 😅
