Omg I just picked up this book from the library and it’s huuuge 🧱 So excited to get started but it will definitely be an “at home” read!

I think I prefer physical books, but they’re pretty expensive, so I’m thinking of getting an e-reader. What do you use?

I've never really seemed to be able to concentrate on audiobooks, I feel like it goes in one ear and out the other but I'm really wanting to try and give them another go while I'm cross stitching instead of sitting in silence 😭 can anyone recommend an easy one to start me off? I'm a bit of a mood reader so any and all genres welcome 🤗

In case anyone needs to hear / read this... Learning new words as you read is part of the adventure of reading! Never let anyone make you feel bad just because you don't know some of the words popping up in a book you're reading.
I was watching a video from one of the many pundits I follow, and they did a segment on a Twitch streamer who was reading online and frequently looking up the words they didn't know for both definitions and pronunciations (Heck yeah! Sends flowers). Apparently the streamer's chat was mocking them for it, which then opened up the broader discussion of literacy and how anti-intellectualism is negatively impacting people who want to cultivate their curiosity when it comes to reading and critical thinking. Specifically, it was honing in on plummeting male literacy rates, but I think it stands that this type of peer pressure to remain uncurious about self-improvement through reading runs through many channels of social circles.
So, as someone who has a... somewhat robust vocabulary... I want to put it out there that there is nothing more exhilarating than coming across a new word I have never heard of before. (Yeah, I'm the 'Snoodling' comment in the Wuthering Heights forum.)
Be curious! Don't feel frustrated if you don't know a word. Think of it as a chance to go on a mini side quest for new information. Embrace the unknown!
Sends all the hugs your way!

Hope everyone had a great week/is having a good Friday! Happy almost weekend!
For this week's question: You're going on a date with a main character from a book you read this month (can be a friend date if you prefer!). Who do you pick to go on a date with, and what do you plan to do?

Lets play a little game.
What locations do you like to read about/ be immerged in?
vs
Where do you like to read?
e.g.
I love reading stories set in Scotland. I love them, they feel so cozy! I've been and the vibes are immaculate.
I love reading on a sofa while it rains outside and can hear the sound of rain on the window. It's my favourite place to read! In some way, a bit similar to where I like to read about, as the rain is a huge comfortin both my fictional and real setting.

I can't be the only one who needs a little more whimsy in their life! What are your whimsical or romanticization bookish habits (or ones you want to implement)?
Do you match bookmarks to the vibe, make a reading nest, reserve books for certain seasons/weather, light special reading candles?
Drown me in your whimsical ideas so I can steal them for this suddenly very cold and dreary weekend!! 🥶🥶
