Just starting the second chapter and she's already breaking down the mythos surrounding the origins of the series and the tumblr-crafted 9/11 pipeline. I appreciate that the author is providing endnotes with sources for the discussion because I think it provides a lot of the context that is necessary for any real exploration of the impact Twilight had on the cultural zeitgeist.

Heeello everyone,
What's one book for you that was an unbelievable letdown? I'm talking soul-crushing, frustrating, want-to-throw-the-book-across-the-room vibe.
Also, absolutely no judgement here!
Also also, spoilers (just in case)
I'll go first ~ The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd
I love mystery and I love maps (I even make maps for fun) and this book combined the two, with magic, and it had such a promising start as well. Until....for 80% of it, there was nothing but all exposition and treating the main character as if she were ten years old. And the 'love interest' was a d*** 😒. And there was no plot to speak of. I've never felt so drained after reading a book and so so so very disappointed.

SpyxFamily is litteraly teaching how to be critical with the newspaper, rumors, information and all. Where is the info coming from ? When you're saying "the whole country" how much % ? Based on which study ? Who are the writers of this article ? Are they well intentioned or want to frame someone or instill confusion among the people ?

(Just restarted reading this so my memory will not be exact) But being able to see this short extract of Loid's childhood is kinda heartbreaking. You also understand more the why he took the job of spy. Even if he didn't said it to his recrutor at the moment, you could see it with the children passing by.

I am over the moon to share that the app is officially live on both iOS and Android!!
We've quite literally poured our blood, sweat and (lots of) tears into the app development over the past 9 months and we could not be more thrilled for everyone to experience it!
We're still being indexed in app store search so you may have to scroll to find us, or type in Pagebound: Social Book Tracker. Here's links to iOS and Android: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pagebound-social-book-tracker/id6751526412 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.pagebound.app
There are quite a few improvements and new features in the app, including:
This is the first release, so there will be many more additions and improvements to come. (PS for Android users: we're aware of two bugs related to library imports from Goodreads/Storygraph, and issues with editing read dates - these have already been resolved and are pending Google approval for release.)
We owe a huge thank you to our beta testers who worked diligently over the last month to report hundreds of bugs and help us get the app prepared for release. A huge round of applause to them.
We hope you love the app as much as we do; it definitely makes engaging on PB so much more convenient and fun. If you have a great experience with the app, we'd love if you'd consider supporting us through Pagebound Royalty; Lucy and I have worked for $0 over the past year to bring the app and website to fruition, and have been covering business costs with our savings accounts. Your contribution means we can continue to work full-time on Pagebound without influence from investors or advertisers, and keep Pagebound 100% for readers by readers. Thank you so much to all the Royalty who have already contributed; it truly means the world to us and keeps Pagebound online!
ok now go download the app and tell us what you think!
Happy Reading, Jennifer & Lucy
PS - leaving us a review in app stores also helps tremendously :)

Wow the shift from the first book is huge. It seems much more darker compared to Philosopher's Stone (not that I mind, as a grown adult, but this contrast is so noticeable). The first book was filled with wonder, but here, Hogwarts itself feels threatening.. Like, from within its walls.
What really stands out is how the book tackles prejudice and racism, mirroring what's happening in the real world. In both cases, the person getting shamed is not really at fault, they can't control where or to whom they were born.
If Philosopher’s Stone was the doorway into magic, Chamber of Secrets is the first reminder that magic can be dangerous too.
I never noticed these stuff before, but as an adult I constantly find new perspectives lol. I absolutely loved reading this, as well as the other HP books. 🪄⚡💖
It feels amazing to revisit my childhood (or maybe teenagehood, since I obviously heard of Harry Potter as a kid but watched the movies as a teen, and read the books after turning 20 lol) 🥹🥹🥹
Also, Dobby is free 🪄🧦 (couldn't find an one sock emoji 😂)
