I really wanted to like this story, but the way Jazz is written is so….not great. The hyper-sexualization is off-putting to read.
On a related note, this entire book feels like a little kid insisting they’re a big kid. Like this book should have been YA, but no, it’s an adult book, and it has to mention sex and boobs every other page to prove it. Never mind the fact that neither sex nor boobs matter to the plot…🥲

I’m starting to think that Jazz should have been written as a man. Cause sometimes her lines read as a teenage boy in a woman’s body. It’s kinda strange.

I feel a little nervous going into this one, coming right off my first read of Project Hail Mary (loved it) and my like 5th read of The Martian (one of my favorites). I’ve read some reviews about how the main character is, and a man writing a woman always has potential to be icky but regardless I’m still excited for more Andy Weir space shenanigans!

This is an introduction to modern poetry, with a focus on breadth of voices and styles rather than depth. In the words of Leonard Cohen, "poetry is just the evidence of life...if your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash." This quest is for those who love poetry, hate poetry, want to write it, read it, or perhaps have nothing to do with it (or all of that at once)!
