Going Postal (Discworld, #33; Moist von Lipwig, #1)

Gore-filled horror with an odd and kinda dubious romantic pairing. I had fun with it! Some of the more disturbing scenes were a bit excessive and took me out of the story. I don’t usually mind when a horror book amps up the gore, but certain moments felt a bit unnecessary for this type of read (namely stuff that happens with minor antagonists), and it made my interest dwindle somewhat. Also, aspects of Muriel being threatened to leave her house were a bit goofy but not in a bad way lol just comically entertaining! I did like the romance elements (though they were weird lol). It was surprisingly sad! Bittersweet, and it was the best part of the read! I also liked that the MC was an elderly woman, eighty-four. It was a nice change from some of my more recent reads with younger narrators. I wanted something different for the ending though. What we got wrapped up the story, but it still felt like something was lacking.

Are y'all able to read multiple books at once? I will often see people with quite a few books being currently read, and I have personally never been able to do that 😅 I find it so hard to not get lost switching back and forth, sometimes merging stories/details in my head or forgetting things. I also struggle to keep myself absorbed in the world when I am moving around, feels like constantly getting in and out of the shower if that makes sense LMAO
For those who do read multiple at the same time, do you find yourself struggling at all? Or is it easy for you to go back and forth? Why do you prefer reading multiple at once vs. one at a time? And then vice versa for those like me who can only read one at a time.
I am personally at all times focusing on one TV show, one video game, and one book at a time. I can switch between those through the day just fine, but once I try to switch between two of the same form of media my brain gets all mixed up.

I haven't cried from a book in a while... actually so long that I can't remember the last time or if there was a last time. This really made me tear up so much. I have a love hate relationship with this book. I guess I do love it. And at the same time, I hate it for how much it reminds me of my younger self.

Happy Valentine's Day to all the readers, writers, friends, and lovers!
In honor of a day of friendship and love my gift to you all is a joke. I thought we could all share some jokes, puns, fun facts or your favorite romantic scene from a book? Your favorite friendship moment in a book as well! Me personally in a book, movie, or real life my favorite things are the gentle and kind of boring everyday things someone does to show they love you and those can be romantic or friendship wise. Even neighborly things!
My valentines joke :
What did the scientist say to their valentine? . . . .
I think of you periodically
