personally, i picked mostly childhood favourites because they felt like a safe choice!
how did you guys pick? are they the books that emotionally scarred you the most? the ones you find most relatable? or just your absolute favourite, nothing deeper ✨
i’d love to know!

From Greco-Roman to Egyptian to Norse mythology, these Gods just can't stop meddling in our modern day world.

My friend has been begging me to start this for years. The size always intimidated me but I finally picked it up in the book shop today. The weather is freezing out and I feel like it fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the inn. Excited to get into it!

Let me start by saying this is a me problem, not a book problem, but I’m struggling to get through this book. I think it’s the structure - it’s like each chapter is a separate essay, so I read a chapter and it’s good but then it feels like I’m finished and I don’t want to pick it up again. I’ve been listening to the audiobook too, which is also good but I’m still not motivated to finish it. I’ve been reading for two weeks and I’m not even 50% through. Just wanted to vent a little bit.

k the protagonist's getting on my nerves a bit...was already before...but more and more...god the hubris is a bit much? And the writing style also is a bit uneven in places. Sometimes it has a grander tone and at other times it's like reading contemporary YA. I don't mind fluctuating emotional valences to a text, which are necessary to create a good book, I think, but some kind of cohesion ought to be there.
Still I can't deny there is a very readable quality to everything and it's enticing enough that you want to know what next, what next, what next. And some might say, that's the primary if not sole purpose of a good book. 🤷🏽♀️
