Does anyone else have a list of List ideas? I tend to be very much in my own world when it comes to reading books, so my ideas of lists don’t really go anywhere. 😬

I just thought it’d be nice to share some ideas of lists that I’ve been sitting on but would love to read more about:

• Waste Disposal is the main character (fiction) - Books that focus on waste disposal and how we’re not watching the items we consume. (Inspired by Gachiakuta and the influence of Japanese cultures 🔗 Tsukumogami in its storyline.)
• Pick your mount. No, not that one - Books with unusual mounts, not including dragons or horses. (Inspired by The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor series where the MC rides a bull.)
• When I Stopped Singing - a list of books where the main character just doesn’t want to talk anymore, I guess voluntary mutism or took a vow of silence (Personal interest)
• Magic is Accessibility - a list of books where the world has magic and accessibility, people can be magic, disabled and not want to be “fixed.” (Inspired by the disability reps in the Witch Hat Atelier mangas by Kamome Shirahama)
• Ripping at the Roots - books about people fixing their community, I think kind of like being a terrible person in their youth, or having left without mending old relationships. Basically about rebuilding burnt bridges. (Inspired by my last reread of The Losers by Harley Laroux.)

I view Lists as a group project (but if people don’t want it to be, it doesn’t have to be), so I’m putting these out there incase people have recs.

So, do you have any ideas for lists? If you’ve already put out the list, what inspired it?

So I was at work today and out loud said “Scales!” which is a swear word from “House of Dragons” by K. A. Linde. Does anyone else do this? Or use remarks from books? It can’t just be me 😂😂

I also find the book I’m currently reading I’ll pick things up from and start using in my day to day, but once the book is done I stop. It’s only if I really love a book and it really sticks with me, words/sayings will also stick with me 😅

I was wondering what your all time favourite quotes of your most liked books are. I think quotes can often be the biggest motivation to finally read a book so I am really hoping to draw some inspiration and newfound curiosity from these. 🤗✨

i have been listening and reading the lord of the rings for the first time and i have never seen the movies. i read the hobbit last year and i enjoyed it. the start of this story is so s l o w. i was enjoying the beginning but we have taken so many turns and i feel like it has been a little unnecessary. i am over a 1/3 of the way through this book and i feel like barely anything has happened. now meeting the ranger, i feel like maybe the story is picking up again. i am losing steam reading this 🫩. can y’all convince me that this series is worth reading still? i really want to like this series 😭 or should i just watch the movies to get the general story?

So, I am an OG hunger games fan. Read them multiple times as a teen, and again as an adult. Arguably my favorite series of all time. I think I’ve read the original trilogy five(?) times. I also went to every midnight premiere of the movies, with the exception of The Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes. I haven’t read it yet either.

I read SOTR and I loved it. Aside from catching fire, it was my favorite book. I pre-ordered the ballad of song birds and snakes before it came out, read the first chapter, and couldn’t get into it. I understand some of the lore is important for the universe, and I know there was a lot of things from this book that were important for SOTR. From what I’ve seen about this book, I was able to connect the dots about the covey, Lucy Gray, Lenore Dove etc… Basically… I am asking, should I read this? I could probably power through based on not liking this the first time. But I need opinions from people who have read it. Should I just ignore it and go off the synopsis or give it another try?
