Hmmm interesting! Very curious about these children and this whole dynamic of documenting (or lack of) magical creatures. Gotta say, author really wants me to know how much literally every character looks down on Linus. It's quite cartoonish in a 'series of unfortunate events' style, or like the dursleys in Harry Potter. Subtlety be damned. But very enjoyable so far

I DNFd it; it didn't capture me a quarter of the way through the book. It did feel super scripted, and I couldn't attribute it to an inexperienced author since it felt like she was manipulating the story (embellishing a boring detail with with scripted conversation, or downplaying a serious event). I didn't have her intonations to guide me emotionally since I wasn't listening to the audiobook version, and her writing style did not convey any emotional depth.

Had to make a new post for this, which is actually one of the main feedback points. The posts are really hard to navigate from the notifications page. Click on a notification about someone's reply to my comment, takes me to the post itself, and then the reply is hidden somewhere in the child comments, which is very hard to find. There is no visual identifier which comment is the new one. The collapsed comment count only includes the number of first branch replies, and not any subsequent replies. You could have a single reply that then has a conversation of 20 comments, but in collapsed form you would only see it as 1 reply, and probably wouldn't even open that thread. Also, I don't know about others but I like to wheel click on links to open a new tab so that I don't lose my spot on the page I was navigating. There are certain parts of the website that don't allow you to wheel click (or ctrl-click). The most notable one is notifications. As conversations are picking up a bit, the notifications are hard to look through. It would be nice to ctrl-click through the notifications and then go tab by tab to see the comments I'd like to reply to. This is a small thing, but it would be nice to have the avatar you chose be the profile button visual in the top right, rather than the black and white icon.
