Between the trauma dumping, the inconsistency in the narration of the chapters and how everyone acts like parody characters, I really can't enter in the story.
And the sister is annoying. If my little sister ever treats me like that, I'm beating her to remind her who has the primogeniture.

This is such a remarkably profound memoir. It's so well written. She managed to balance the educational aspect as well as her personal experience and gave us such an impactful and heartaching read. It's definitely a tough and heavy read and I applaud her courage to share her vulnerability and story with the world. I had to pause every now and then to take it all in. I listened to the audiobook and loved that the author narrated it and also included original clips of her conversation with her therapist. Such an important read. I definitely recommend as long as you're in the right mindset for it.

I remember thinking this was magical when I read it as a child. Reading it now it's so absurd lol. So much nonsense packed into one place. It did make me nostalgic and happy that as a kid my imagination took me into that world. I wonder why our imagination changes so much as we grow older. Still it's a silly read and the writing is fun.

Ohh I hadn't connected the dots from the title to the way trauma is stored in the body. Even lasting as far as 3 (!!) generations?? Would this mean you could do everything right as a parent and still pass on the trauma you endured to your children? That's a sad thought...

I've been driving a lot for my parents nowadays and am looking for audiobooks that are conservative-muslim-parents-no explicit content-no swearing no sex no vulgar language-friendly.
I feel like this might be a bit challenging(?) BUT if anyone has any recommendations SAFE for us to listen in the car feel free to share! Appreciate it a lot!!
