Haifa, Bisan. These are the names of some Palestinians. Iāve heard before that Palestinians will name their children after villages as a way to preserve their culture and remember their roots

āFor those of us safe and cozy in our homes, itās hard to grasp the destructive capacity of the bombs that many of our governments sell to Israel.ā
Iāll argue that itās impossible for most people to understand what life is like for the people of Gaza. And itās because of our taxpayer money that Israel has the funding for this.

No seriously like I love it when someone is like āoh yeah I read 18383929283 books this month!!ā OK AND NOW I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT ALL OF THEM! I love reading and talking about books (we know omg) but itās actually so hard to meet people who feel the same way because a lot of people are online. Obviously this isnāt bad but I feel like lots of people have lost the value of curling up on the couch with a good book. Like I guess it really is hard to meet someone who will take a nice little walk with me and talk about books while we look at flowers and plants š sigh

What was your favourite book for September? What was your least favourite? How many books did you read?
What are you planning to read this month? Are there any books releasing this month youāre interested in?

I gatekeep like it's going out of style, though I'm slowly sharing more books I like, reluctantly. I just want to hold them close to my chest and bite anyone who dares try to take them. Even as I'm chatting about how great they are. Is there anyone else, or do I just need to relearn sharing is caring, like a kindergartener? Edit: Alright I guess I'm just a cranky toddlerš

Hey, beautiful people š« After that post I made in the forum I felt so surprised to see so many people relate to my situation, and it was overwhelming (in the best way) to feel everyone's support and understanding. So I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to give me a little uplifting, it really made a difference.
This made me think that we really are a community of dear anonymous friends, who support each other through the love of books. Which led me to this thought: There are so many beautiful and original usernames... What's the story behind each one? (except for one_crazy_eliott, I think I understand the reason behind Mr. Crazy's username š¤š¤š¤)
So, if you feel comfortable, share the story behind it. I think it will help bring us closer and keep everyone's anonymity anyway.
I'll start: The OGs know I started PB as fantasy.betareader but decided later to change my username to Pipsy to help me feel more connected here. This is a nickname my sister gave me when I was 3 or 4 years old, and it stuck until today. My whole family calls me by it, my friends, my teachers, my bosses, etc. Even on my passport, my signature says Pipsy. So that's basically my name š

One of my goals of the year is to read a modern arabic book and while browsing libby I found three interesting books
Ų®ŁŁ: a horror jin story from a saudi author that Iāve always wanted to try but horror was never my cup of tea.(audiobook)
ŲÆŁŁŁ Ų¬ŲÆŲŖŁ ŁŁŲŖŁ Ų§ŁŲ§ŁŲŗŲ§ŲÆ: mystery thriller, murderess grandma? Itās been on my tbr and recommend by a friend. (E-book)
Ų§ŁŲŗŲ±ŁŲ© Ų±ŁŁ ŁØ: jin horror story (different author) used to own it but never read it and then lost it by lending it to multiple classmates (according to them-13 year old them- very scary). (Audiobook)
Update: currently reading the grandma murderer so far itās good, unfortunately the book is currently unavailable here (Iāll add my thoughts in the form when itās available if libby keeps my highlights)

Just wanted to let everyone know if you accidentally add the wrong book to the "community rec" section, you can now delete it. And for everyone that's new or doesn't know what I'm talking about: at the bottom of every book page, there's community-sourced book recs (our "human", non-algo way of serving recs). Anyone can add a rec!
PS - for the beta app users, this is on web-only right now. I'll include it in the next release after app approval.
