This is a solid read for anyone wanting to consider war from a different perspective. It's Kuet's real story wrapped told fictionally and it should leave a person uneasy. I didn't read this till after I retired from the military and I may not have even understood it had I read it before hand, but it really hits the mark of a mostly easily digestible story of realities of war. The one thing that can make it difficult is the narrative hopping but that part is also something more that adds to the book once you get over it.

DNF. I tried and tried to like this book but it just drags. I think the point for me is the narration makes it difficult for me to keep interested. I have gotten twenty percent in and nothing is happening, I don't care about the characters, at this point I'm not even sure I know what is happening. Frustrating because the occasion I get into the plot it seems good but I can't keep focused on it. It has so many good reviews.
