I am eating this up rn! So much so that I went ahead and got the Enchantra audiobook as well. Let me stop lying to myself like I’m not going to end up reading that asap 😆 I like to plan my reads but then this happens and I’m like how can I squeeze this in soon?! A good problem to have!

i love how r.f. kuang's book mostly tackles colonization. she did it with the poppy war and she did it with babel too, but it doesnt fall to the same plot and premise. there's always something more to show. and i'm always gonna read anything from her as she's the only author that entertains me the same that it makes me curious to learn beyond just what her book is. :">

Read this as an adult and I didn’t think I would enjoy it, buttt am thoroughly surprised. Was pretty face paced and was invested. I will be continuing with the rest of the series, so that’s a good sign. Though I have to say I really didn’t like the writing and did see it as a little corny and doing too much. However, the storyline was pretty interesting so I’m here to stay and see what happens next.

I am posting this from the app!!! 🥹 can't believe it, this was the best news to wake up to and I am absolutely loving it, the design is even better than the website. I love that you can see someone's comment on your feed without having to open the post. So excited to explore more 🥰
P.s.: it seems to only be the android app so far and I only found it by searching for Pagebound: social book tracker! I guess bc it's quite new.

Do you read books after watching their adaptation and vice versa? I feel it's quite common for fans of a book to watch the adaptation, but for me personally after realizing a series/movie is also a book I run to it. It's come to a point where I'm genuinely surprised when a good movie doesn't stem from a book
For example recently I watched down with love, a 2000s rom com set in the 60s, and I found it so refreshing and funny I was sure it had a book. Turns out, it doesn't! Or well, it does, but it was published after the movie came out, and though it's on my tbr, I still don't know if it's an actual book or the script of the movie
Have you come across a similar situation?
I also know of ppl who refuse to read a book after watching the movie or vice versa. My mom's like that, it doesn't matter if the book/movie's better, she absolutely will not read/watch it cause she thinks it'll ruin her experience of the story. I see it usually as an expansion, but I don't have high hopes for movie adaptations. Reading a book after watching the movie always adds detail to the story, but usually ends up ruining the magic of the adaptation

I always hesitate calling a book "unknown," because what if I just haven't found the people who know it? That feeling aside, I want to hear what your favorite "unknown" or lesser known books are, if you'll listen to me rave about mine!
Last year, I was perusing shelves in a small bookstore in Colorado and spotted the cutest little paperback (yes, I judge books by their covers, sue me), The Fern House by Brooke Hamilton-Benjestorf. There was only one copy in the store, no written reviews on Goodreads, and I had to manually add it to Storygraph. I decided to jump in without knowing anything about it and it is now one of my favorite books. It's a quiet, fairly uneventful book that follows a woman's move to an isolated island. It's captivating and magical and I NEED someone to talk about it with!!
So, what is your favorite book that you have no one to talk with about? I'd love to read your thoughts and check it out!

I used to like going places to read because I thought it would give main character energy and help me meet a cute boy 🤦♂️
Now I like to go out to read because the change of scenery enhances my reading experience. I always like to take short breaks to process what I'm reading and it's just more pleasant for me to do it at a park or my favorite cafe.
Do you have a favorite spot? Why is it your favorite?
