Reader, this was exhausting. Jane's tale could have had 40% edited out and nothing would be lost. This was essentially just one unfortunate event after another with a lot of details about appearances until you end up rich and wed for your happily ever after. But no one is likeable, and yes, I'm including Jane in that, so I couldn't get behind anything that happened either way.

question’s in the title! what book, just based on how much you love it/how much you yap about it/etc etc etc pick your own criteria, do you think your PB friends would see and think immediately “oh yeah, [insert your username]!!”? for me,
the fact that i made this in the first place really says it all for my answer honestly

Well this was a huge disappointment. I was expecting something quirky and fun, but I was given over the top stereotypes and an obnoxious FMC. There were some good ideas in here, but there were also inconsistencies and way too many pop culture references--and I normally like those!
I skimmed a lot of the last 50% and should have DNFd at like 12% when I got a feel for the main characters.

I’m really not sure how to review this book, other than I felt a lot of feelings, and had a lot of strong reactions. There were certain moments where I sat back and paused the audio to examine what exactly was causing certain reactions, wondering how my reaction would change if X happened, and what my reaction had to say about the fictional world in Fledgling but also about the real world. It’s definitely a book that will having you Feeling and Thinking 😅
I found the writing incredibly effective in creating tension. I do think if I read this physically I may not have enjoyed the words on paper as much. I wasn’t always the biggest fan of the dialogue/inner mologue with the repetition either but I could move past it.
The story and lore were so intriguing and compelled me to keep going despite my comfort. I loved this take on vampires and it feels like such important media.
It’s not really a book I would recommend because of the content, but I do hope folks give this a shot as it is worth pushing through (if you can 🖤).

This was such a good read. The reasons why it isn't a 5 star for me are it started to get repetitive and dragged on a bit too much.
Otherwise, the characters were great and the yearning was immaculate. This is also super low on the drama scale. Definitely consider this as a cozy or comfort read.
