I like my castles cold, my moors windswept, and my heroines swooning.

An introduction to the SciFi genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

I've always been so intimidated by the sheer volume and hype around LOTR and after some research on Goodreads and Reddit, starting from The Hobbit felt right since it's the prequel. Only 11 pages in and it's so cozy! I'd want to be a hobbit just for the tea and cakesš¤š»

Iām only asking this out of curiosity. I feel like itās pretty widely known that JK Rowling isnāt a good person. But one thing I see people debate over is whether or not itās okay to read Harry Potter because of that. I enjoy listening to both sides of the argument: whether or not itās okay to read the books or not because of her actions. I think both sides have good points. So do you think itās a case where you can separated the art from the artist? Or is it an automatic no for you?
Edit: I would like to clarify that in case it didnāt come across, I DO NOT SUPPORT HER.
Edit 2: Yeah after reading these comments Iām 100% done even considering adding the books to my tbr š

The slow pace of this book has been challenging for my impatient brain. Interesting things are happening, but they happen so slowly that I find myself getting sleepy waiting for the other shoe to drop. This won't be a DNF, but I do wonder how long it's going to take for me to get to the end.

I was sure I could finish this quest, but House of Leaves is virtually impossible for me. I own it. I've tried to read it over 5 times. Does anyone have a recommendation to get through this bizarre monster? I want that completion, dang it!

Stressful, thrilling, and better than the movie.

My least favorite of the original three, but still a great book. I enjoyed how Pullman ended the original trilogy, though some readers may find the content troubling depending on certain beliefs.
