Do I really need to read Caraval before Once Upon a Broken Heart? I’ve already started OUABH—will not reading Caraval first affect my understanding or make me miss anything?

I am not very far into this book but I am not too sure about it. I was looking for a cute cozy read after a more intense book but I am a little confused. The summary of the book is so far more interesting than the world the author is starting to build. I am going to give it some time and honestly will finish it because the font is big and the pages are small.
Hoping this starts making more sense or becomes more intriguing soon.
