I enjoyed the story but I like the author’s other books better.

I recently finished a book which I picked up blindly in a bookstore based off the title and blurb which I thought sounded interesting. However, I didn’t particularly like it at all, and I would only recommend it to a select few people who fit a certain criteria. As a result, I gave the book two stars which is pretty low for me.
When I went to write my review on PB, I noticed there were no reviews for this book on the app! I would be the first one, and I was about to write a pretty harsh review! I don’t necessarily want to put others off picking up with book bc I do think certain people would like it just not me.
So, what are your thoughts on writing reviews for books that don’t have any? Would you have written the negative review or left the task for someone else down the line? If you saw a book you were interested in only had one negative review would that keep you from picking it up?
I feel like if I had loved the book and I was the first to review it on the app I would be super excited!! But unfortunately that wasn’t the case here 😔 not sure what to do!

My husband has been sweet enough to let me read one of my favorites to him. We’re just getting into some of the drama now with the family next door and the Large Family.
I feel like this book ramps up a lot like halfway through. No matter how many times I read it I love it!
