I just wanted to offer an alternative point of view to post after post about how this is like The Hunger Games or even worse, people calling it a “rip off” (bffr). The Hunger Games is a fantastic series that could possibly have had some inspiration BUT
On page 35, they talk about the inspiration!! The Running Man is mentioned by Mordecai. The book and the first movie adaption came out way before The Hunger Games.

A Friend of mine published her first book and ofc all of her friends ( including me) want to support her by buying and preordering the book, going to live readings etc.
My Problem is, that I'm pretty sure that the book's cover ist made by AI - which goes against my principles of not buying and therefore supporting AI "Art".
Now I'm not sure how to handle the situation. I don't want to offend her or make her feel bad my critisizing this ( Not everybody has spend that much thought into the topic of ehtical use of AI etc.) but I also really don't want to support a publisher who seems to use AI or have a Book with AI Art in my shelfes.

might sound like a slightly ridiculous question, but hear me out😅i have a very ingrained habit of tending to speed through books, and while reading fast isn’t wrong, i often feel like i’m not getting as much out of them as i’d like, and rather am sprinting through one just to get to the next. would love tips on how to avoid doing this!

just curious to kind of survey people: does anyone have a particular preference for books of a certain length? i’ve realised that i generally feel more drawn towards books on the short (<300 pages) side, and im curious about people’s different preferences and why!
personally i like reading books that don’t have a ton of worldbuilding or plot and instead are more on the character-based or even experimental side, and those tend to be much more effective when short, but i’m curious how other people feel.
i remember someone saying about film that films under 100 minutes tend to be easier to like because of their brevity, and films over 180 minutes are easier to admire because of their ambition, but films in the middle really have to work to stand out and honestly i find that rings true not just in film but in books too! most of the doorstoppers i’ve read, i really enjoyed, whereas books between 350-500 pages are more hit or miss. but curious how others feel!

Basically the question on the title. When and what do you like to modify (during or after accomplishing it)? 👀
I recently completed my 50 book Reading Challenge and I notice that around 30 books are graphic novels/mangas.
Therefore, I'm sorta expanding my Reading Challenge to complete at least 50 Prose novels. Sounds easy in theory, but reading through graphic novels and mangas is easier for me ans I can down one volume in one day - so very tempting whenever I have stress or close to a burnout.
