True to the book's description, The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling is like a medieval siege queer horror fever dream. It definitely fits into the weird lit category, and I can see how this book might not be for everyone. The writing does not hold your hand, and a lot of narrative elements (magic, world-building, relationships, etc.) aren't fully fleshed out in the story. However, because it was left open to interpretation, it started a lot of interesting discussions on what a certain thing symbolizes or how the plot points are connected. I rooted for the three main characters, though I didn't feel connected to them. What kept me reading until the end was the use of cannibalism as a symbol for power, twisted loyalty and devotion, corrupted faith, and identity. The writing did a fantastic job of setting the story's tone and making me feel paranoid, boxed in, and unsettled, like the characters.
I liked it, but would be hesitant to recommend it to people until I know that they would absolutely vibe with the story. You will not get a complete answer to what really happened by the end, and if you're okay with that, then the book might be for you.

I’m so jealous of people who are able to listen to audiobooks! My mind always drifts away and I forget I’m listening to one. Then I have to rewind ten minutes again. The only time it almost worked was when I went for runs. Anyone else has this problem and figured out how to make it work?

Currently I read my ebooks either on my phone or my iPad, but honestly neither are ideal. I'm considering getting an E-Reader but I'm overwhelmed with options so I thought I would reach out here.
My only real requirement is to be able to load epubs on it, so it doesn't need to be super fancy. Ideally it would be larger than my phone, but smaller than my iPad. And if I have the ability to highlight sections that would be amazing, but not a deal breaker.
What E-Reader are you using or would you recommend?

I've seen a few people talking about slumps, and I know it means you're not reading as much as you'd like, but what's the difference between a slump and just... lacking focus?
I feel like I'm a fairly avid reader who picks up books pretty regularly. But if the books I'm picking up aren't jiving with me, I find other books until I do find something I want. Sometimes it takes a couple duds and sometimes it takes a dozen.
It's often not the fault of the books since I'm a mood reader, but I also don't look at it as any fault of mine? Sometimes reading isn't what my brain wants to be doing. Is that a slump? Or is it just that our brains aren't meant to be consuming vast amounts of information in quick succession, regardless of how enjoyable it is? Whenever most people talk about slumps, it seems like they're looking for a cure of some sort. But why does it feel wrong to not be able to/want to be reading all the time?
Is this similar to a book hangover? Where something was so good that nothing can compare to it? Does that count? I've seen some people saying that certain books were so BAD that it put them into a slump. What does that mean? That struggling through a book you weren't super into made you not want to read anymore? If that's a thing, why not put down the book you're hating sooner? I know some people are completionists and I admire that, but also... don't you want to enjoy your hobby?
I don't know. I just want to hear what others are feeling and thinking when they confess to a slump, because I can't tell if I've had one or not 😅

What’s a book that’s so good you can’t stop thinking about it even after years of reading it?
Mine is ‘The Name of The Wind’ by Patrick Rothfuss

I saw a post on Instagram with a proposed 2025 update to the Myers-Briggs personality test that I thought was so funny link here! I’m most definitely an ITND. 😆
This made me wonder what a ✨book reading personality✨ would look like, so here is something I came up with:
lol sorry if it’s confusing!! I tried to make sure the letters weren’t doubled. Anyway, I’m an ATMN! 💁🏻♀️ What are you??
