I would love to hear more about Elspeth and Elm’s friendship. In the first book, especially on market day but also at other times, they would be thrown together and would have conversations. We know how Elspeth thought of him, I wonder if he actually liked her besides the fact that she was falling in love with Ravyn.

I just found my new favorite fantasy book! It did take me a couple chapters to get into it, but once I did, I was HOOKED. This book has amazing storybuilding, the timeline is clear and makes sense, and you can tell when and where different things are happening. It’s a little hard to remember all the providence cards, but being honest, I still couldn’t tell you what half of them do and I still understand. Rachel Gillig does a great job explaining each card as they become important. I love how to romance isn’t the main focus, but it’s still a part of the story in a way that makes sense without consuming the plot. While some details I feel like get mixed up (like her wrist and I’m sure there’s other things), there’s just so much that I kinda overlooked it. I would HIGHLY recommend this book. I can’t describe how much I admire and love this story. I can’t wait to read book two!
