Idk maybe I'm just not a fantasy girly? I struggle to read about fantasy worlds without trying to compare to the real world and it's politics. The links between this story and the Russian revolution are too obvious and I'm not really here for the Americanised extreme anti communist agenda.

I find interesting the chosen names of the two main characters. Kaine (=Cain) from the bible and Helena from greek mythology because the one thing in common of their stories is betrayal. Cain kills his own brother and Helena escapes from her husband with Paris and that starts the Trojan War. The word brother can mean not just a sibling but your country, the cause you fight for etc. The word husband can mean someone you swear an oath to... Both of those actions caused great harm for everyone involved. I haven't read the fan fiction I did go into this book with a fresh mind and I don't know this story so I can be wrong. I just find the names interesting. And after founding out what Juniper means I don't think anything is a coincidence in this book. I am very curious how this story will go.
